SUMMARY

As the Head of Data Management you will lead a team of data management experts to drive collaboration efforts with with internal and external business partners to identity opportunities to support Nexamp with a common set of tools and infrastructure to make analytics faster, more insightful, and more efficient. You and the team will build, and architect next generation data pipelines and machine learning frameworks. You will design highly scalable and extensible data platforms which enables collection, storage, modeling, and analysis of massive data sets from numerous channel partners across the organization. 

This role will perform architecture design, data modeling, and implementation of data platforms and analytic applications.  In this role, you will coach and mentor other technical staff. 

You will apply a creative mindset to a focus on collecting, parsing, managing, and automating data feedback loops in support of business innovation. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for the overall design of the enterprise-wide data/information architecture, balancing internal and external systems and incorporating security and performance requirements. 

  • Evolve data architecture to better support research and data-driven decisions throughout the organization
  • Coach and mentor a team of data management experts in translating the data strategy into execution plans
  • Design, develop, and maintain dimensional models and ETL processes to support enterprise reporting capabilities
  • Knowledgeable in most aspects of designing and constructing data architectures, operational data stores, and data marts; focuses on enterprise wide data modeling and database design
  • Define data/information architecture standards, policies and procedures for the organization, structure, attributes and nomenclature of data elements, and applies accepted data content standards to technology projects
  • Translate strategic requirements into a usable enterprise information architecture, which may include an enterprise data model, associated metadata, common business vocabulary, ontologies and taxonomies to be used to guide enterprise solution development and achieve consistency of information assets across the application portfolio
  • Role requires an understanding of emerging regulatory issues, particularly in energy generation and consumer energy delivery
  • Be proficient with ETL/ELT data pipelines, patterns for loading Data Warehouses, Lakes

QUALIFICATIONS

Ideal candidate must be enthusiastic, self-motivated, results-oriented, and operate well in a collaborative, team-oriented environment. 

  • Experience with architecting and building data pipelines and applications on big data frameworks in cloud-based platforms (i.e. Azure, AWS)
  • 7+ years of experience with large and complex data management systems
  • Experiencing serving as a data architect for multiple business groups with a good understanding of implications of data on business decisions
  • Business unit and business process expertise in areas of sales, marketing, customer service, and/or energy generation preferred
  • Proficiency in SQL and a data analysis programming language, e.g. Python 
  • Experience with performing data analysis and data exploration, feature engineering, and developing metrics and KPI data layers for broader business and analytic consumption 
  • Experience working in multi-developer environment, using version control (i.e. Git) 
  • Experience working in an agile delivery environment 
  • Strong critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving skills 
  • 2+ years of experience managing others 
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field or equivalent work experience
