SUMMARY

Nexamp is seeking a Solar Electrical Engineer (Co-Op) to perform power engineering tasks for commercial and utility scale photovoltaic systems.

Schedule: Summer 2022- December 2022

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Independently design single-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, and site layouts for interconnection applications for photovoltaic power plants and battery storage systems
  • Support senior engineers in managing a portfolio of utility interconnection applications from initial submission through project closeout
  • Support senior engineers in reviewing and analyzing utility pre-screen reports, System Impact Studies, and Interconnection Service Agreements
  • Perform medium voltage design work in support of utility interconnection and permitting application processes
  • Interface with a variety of internal and external professional engineering disciplines including civil, structural, and electrical.
  • Provide technical support to Nexamp development, engineering, procurement, construction, and O&M departments for the entire life cycle of a project including development, permitting, construction, and asset management phases.
  • Develop proficiency in NEC and other applicable state and local codes
  • Additional duties as assigned and/or directed. 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently enrolled in a College or University program 
  • Ideal candidate must be enthusiastic, self-motivated, and customer and results oriented.
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field, or a current student pursuing the same. A concentration in power systems or renewable energy systems is preferred.
  • AutoCAD experience preferred
  • Knowledge of basic electrical principles preferred
  • PVSYST or Helioscope experience preferred
  • Knowledge of industry standard design codes such as National Electric Code, International Building Code, International Fire Code and other standards relevant to the industry preferred
  • MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint software proficiency
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as work independently
  • Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple projects and tasks
