Job Description

About Indigo:

We're an international agtech startup pioneering an ambitious mission in a budding industry where agriculture meets technology. Through the use of data-driven insights, natural microbiology, and innovative digital technologies, Indigo is partnering across the supply chain, ultimately cultivating a scalable climate solution and enhanced ecosystem that beneficially serves farmers, consumers, and the planet alike.

Our mission is unique, and therefore our teams are too: from multigenerational farming gurus who understand the land as though it were an extension of themselves, to cutting-edge techies on the frontier of innovation, our teams reflect the range of the stakeholders we serve: the Earth, the Farmer, and the Consumer. Indigo is extraordinary, and we owe that to the individuals who make up our community and enable success through diversity of thought, experience, background, perspective, race, sexuality, gender, age, and everything else that makes a person uniquely themselves. Connected by a common vision and empowered by diversity, we aren’t ordinary, and neither are you. Embrace your extraordinary and join Indigo in cultivating a healthier planet fueled by unique game changers.

Opportunity:

Ready to have a big impact on the world? At Indigo you will have the opportunity to do just that, by building understanding of our users into our work to improve the grain marketing experience for growers and buyers. We are looking for a Senior User Researcher to join our User Research team and help make it a driving force for change in the agriculture supply chain. • Lead field research studies with multifunctional teams
  • Build on our tech teams’ enthusiasm and hunger for user research and empower them to learn from and about users across the supply chain
  • Identify opportunities for high-impact research, through work with our Product, Design, Customer Success, and Commercial teams
  • Balance research needs across product development squads, and prioritize and scope research studies to produce as much high-value insight as possible
  • Help build User Research as a discipline across the company

  • Coach cross-functional teammates in building User Research skills
  • Exemplify and evangelize the power of User Research to drive product and company success
  • Inspire the whole company to care deeply about users
  • Help design, establish, and socialize a repository of user insights that enables teammates to see easily what we know about different user types
  • Publicize and socialize user research insights
  • Foster continued user research knowledge sharing across teams

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Experience leading studies across the spectrum of User Research: foundational and generative research, discovery (broad and more focused), concept testing, design validation, and measurement
  • Experience leading field research and including non-research teammates
  • Demonstrated skills in qualitative and quantitative research methods
  • Strong experience applying appropriate methods to research questions, considering needs, resources, and constraints
  • Experience supporting research across multiple product areas (different scrum teams / squads)
  • Experience coaching non-user researchers in user research basics
  • Experience in an agile environment, working closely with Design and Product teams
  • Experience working in a startup environment

  • Self-starter: see needs, proactively develop ways to meet them
  • Enthusiasm for the adventure of conducting user research in an environment of high ambiguity and high opportunity
  • Enthusiasm for building user research maturity in its early stages; builds great relationships and enjoys setting the stage for “aha” moments that turn people into advocates for user research
  • Able to balance research rigor and exigency to provide insights that drive product decisions
  • Strong networking skills and ease at building rapport with all kinds of users and colleagues
  • Able to juggle multiple projects, prioritize them, and make forward progress
