We are seeking a Staff Mechanical Engineer to join our hardware development team. The ideal candidate will leverage their expertise in mechanical design and thermal analysis to enhance our hardware design, testing, and manufacturing efforts.Responsibilities:<ul style=""><li>Model and design components using various materials, including plastic, metal, and glass.</li><li>Collaborate effectively with internal and external teams to drive project success.</li><li>Interpret results from Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) simulations while mentoring Senior and Junior Engineers on improvements in product design.</li><li>Participate in New Product Development (NPD) and guide design directions to meet performance requirements.</li><li>Provide technical leadership in Design-for-Manufacturability, Design-for-Automation, Design-for-Inspection, and Design-for-Test.</li><li>Lead Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA), tolerance analysis, and product lifecycle management through mentorship and execution of deliverables on critical path projects.</li><li>Design and build prototype components and assemblies to validate designs through testing.</li><li>Prepare and review detailed 2D drawings using ASME Y14.5-2018 GD&amp;T standards where applicable.</li><li>Own enclosure designs and work with Electrical, Thermal, and Manufacturing teams on the specification of mechanical interfaces, thermal interfaces, and overall product function.</li><li>Design products to comply with creepage and clearance rules, high voltage safety concerns, high speed signal integrity requirements, low-noise analog design best practices, EMC/EMI regulations, and thermal and mechanical design requirements.</li><li>Work with contract manufacturers and manufacturing test teams throughout the full product lifecycle to ensure parts are made to specification and achieve our standards for product quality, yield, and cost.</li><li>Designing harnesses and electrical products to adhere to industry specific safety and regulatory standards such as UL standards and installation guidelines for Authorities Having Jurisdiction.</li></ul>Potential Projects:<ul style=""><li>Collaborating on designs for new energy-efficient electrical systems.</li><li>Building prototypes for innovative electrical appliances.</li><li>Testing and optimizing product designs for real-world applications.</li></ul>About You Required QualificationsYou'd be a great fit for this role if you:<ul style=""><li>Hold a Bachelors or Masters in Mechanical Engineering.</li><li>Have 8+ years of experience developing hardware products for production, experiencing the full production cycle from ideation to manufacturing.</li><li>Demonstrate substantial hands-on experience in mechanical design and prototyping, as well as practical knowledge of thermal analysis.</li><li>Exhibit strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple projects effectively.</li><li>Proven history of designing for high-volume manufacturing methods that shall include but not be limited to: injection molding, extrusion, insert molding, progressive die stamping, automated welding, electroless plating, immersion plating, powder coating.</li><li>Possess excellent communication skills to convey technical concepts clearly and work collaboratively with team members.</li></ul>Bonus QualificationsWe’d love it if you also have:<ul style=""><li>A proven track record in electro-mechanical design and simulations.</li><li>Experience in CFD and electromagnetic analysis.</li><li>Familiarity with national and international safety and regulatory standards such as UL, NEC, IEC, and ISO.</li></ul><h2>Life at SPAN</h2>Our Bengaluru team plays a pivotal role in SPAN’s continued growth and expansion.
