Job Description

Axiom Cloud is transforming how the world’s cooling systems are powered, operated, and maintained, in order to generate significant climate and financial impact. We need a growing, high-functioning team in order to realize this mission at scale.

We are therefore seeking a People Operations Manager who will help develop Axiom’s talent and culture strategy, execute the strategy, and build processes that can help Axiom Cloud scale. You will execute many initiatives related to recruiting, retention, performance management, compensation & benefits, talent management/organizational development, and employee relations. This is a full-time exempt position reporting directly to the COO.

What You’ll Do

Working directly with the COO and executive team, you will:

  • Manage the people operations function for a fast-growing, early-stage company, and help define Axiom’s people and talent strategy
  • Lead recruiting initiatives (including external recruiters in some cases) to ensure we are attracting top talent and have a streamlined onboarding process
  • Develop hiring strategies that attract employees from a diverse background
  • Be responsible for all stages of the employee on-boarding, orientation and exit processes
  • Manage the creation and implementation of effective and relevant staff onboarding and training tools/programs
  • Support compensation, benefits, and employee training, retention and performance management programs
  • Help define the strategy for Axiom’s people management team that can meet the needs of the organization
  • Approach each initiative with a business and problem solving mindset, keeping the business’s strategic objectives in mind
  • Utilize a data driven approach to identify trends and recommend proactive solutions for employee performance, retention, engagement, diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Administer Axiom’s systems for OKRs, employee feedback, human resources, compliance, applicant tracking, employee expense management, and/or others. Lead initiatives to recommend and implement new systems as necessary.
  • Communicate human resource policies, procedures and practices to ensure sound leadership application and legal compliance
  • Act as an advocate for, and resource to, employees to ensure that employee perspectives are heard and considered
  • Support Axiom team members team to ensure that they are defining professional development goals and achieving them on an ongoing basis
  • Foster a positive work environment and administer engagement and feedback tools
  • Stay informed of federal, state, and agency compliance matters and serves as an expert in state and federal labor law compliance in all locations in which Axiom operates
  • Manage relevant vendor relationship, act as a point-of-service contact for issues and problems
  • Define and manage relevant budgets, and contribute to long-term budget planning

This position is fully remote, with working hours generally aligned to Pacific time.

You are a self-driven, process-oriented, outgoing professional who cares about people. You have exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills, and you are able to handle multiple simultaneous project tasks while meeting deadlines and interacting effectively with people across every part of the organization.

The following qualifications are guidelines - we will bend these for an incredible candidate!

  • 3+ years of People Ops / HR generalist experience in an early stage environment
  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills
  • Experience recruiting, hiring and retaining team members
  • Experience navigating difficult interpersonal situations with professionalism and grace
  • Demonstrated ability to complete projects within given time and budget constraints
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal abilities to manage cross-functional teams and to influence key stakeholders to insure that initiatives align and support business objectives
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing business requirements
  • Creative problem-solving abilities with incredible attention to detail
  • Aligned with Axiom Cloud’s guiding principles (you will be asked to provide examples of how you embody these principles during interviews)
  • Prowess in all MS Office programs and Google apps, and knowledge of CRM systems
