The Chemistry team is responsible for developing and characterizing various polymers and membrane electrode assemblies (MEAs) for Twelve’s electrochemical CO2 reduction process. As a Junior Polymer Chemist, you will be responsible for mass production of polymers and utilizing characterization techniques to assess the performance of different materials. In this role, you will collaborate with members of other teams to maintain a constant supply of materials as well as understanding Twelve’s electrochemical application and its results.

What You Will Do:

  • Perform wet chemistry reactions and solution preparation
  • Assist in the scale up of material production
  • Material quality control and characterization
  • Material characterization on various polymers
  • Analyze characterization and electrochemical testing data and present the results to the technical team
  • Manage inventory of supplies
  • Communicate status of samples to other team members
  • Documentation of procedures
  • Develop/update existing SOPs in the database
  • Exercise judgement within defined procedure to determine appropriate action
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Have a high level of understanding regarding your work and capable of training others

Who You Are:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering or a related STEM field
  • At least 1 year experience working in a wet lab environment
  • Experience in scale up is a plus
  • Experience in UV-Vis spectroscopy, Thermal Gravimetric Analysis (TGA), and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) is a plus
  • You are able to lift up to 50 pounds as required by scale up production
  • Have a basic knowledge in data processing softwares such as Google Docs and Google Sheets
  • Strong desire and curiosity to learn new things
  • Ability to work independently and make appropriate decisions
  • Capable of working with other team members
  • You are always looking to be challenged and have the ability to problem solve
  • High attention to details and strong organizational skills
  • Able to communicate effectively with the team and follow directions/SOPs
