In this role, you will help to drive forward the delivery of current and future offshore wind projects by leading and managing offshore and onshore consenting related activities. The Consenting Manager role interfaces with many areas of project development and offers an extremely exciting and rewarding opportunity for the right candidate. Job Description:The Consenting Manager will support the delivery of SBG’s offshore wind portfolio by working to secure and maintain compliance with all necessary consents and approvals. This is a dynamic role that provides key project-level interfaces between consenting and related technical, commercial, stakeholder engagement, HSE, project governance activities. Therefore, in addition to specific consenting experience, the successful applicant will also possess a demonstrable project management skillset and technical knowledge in the delivery of offshore renewable energy projects. The Consenting Manager reports to Simply Blue Group’s Head of Consenting at Group level, and relevant Project Managing Directors at project level. This is a full-time role and travel from time to time in connection with project work should be expected. Responsibilities:<ul><li>Leading and managing consenting and environmental activities throughout all stages of offshore wind project development in line with best practice and applicable legislation, from pre-lease development phase through to project execution</li><li>Developing and implementing optimised project consenting strategies, and collaborating with internal project functions to align optimised Project Design Envelopes that facilitate the construction, operation and maintenance of all necessary project elements</li><li>Developing and implementing pre-application engagement strategies, and defining, securing and managing any required Discretionary Advice Service or Planning Performance Agreement</li><li>Developing scopes of work for, and procuring various specialist support, including environmental surveys and EIA support</li><li>Effectively managing specialist environmental consultants, suppliers and other third-party contractors in accordance with agreed contracts, budgets and schedules, including critically appraising contract deliverables to ensure that outputs are high quality and stand up to external examination</li><li>Facilitating the securing of, and compliance with, all necessary consents, licences, leases and other third-party agreements and approvals for assets and developments, including leading oversight of the preparation and submission of consent/licence applications</li><li>Ensuring consenting related risks, mitigations, milestones and assumptions are incorporated into project risk registers, delivery schedules and cost books, and supporting regular progress reporting</li><li>Effectively engaging key project stakeholders such regulatory and licensing authorities, statutory nature conservation bodies, local planning authorities, landowners, relevant sea users and environmental on-governmental organisations, including through public consultation events where required</li><li>Overall responsibility for inputs to examination/determination processes, consent compliance, discharge of pre-commencement conditions and related plans to enable FID</li><li>Managing additional consent and licence applications, including consent/licence variations</li><li>Leading on consenting and environmental elements of consultation responses, and representing SBG at relevant industry working groups, forums and events</li></ul>Skills &amp; Experience:<ul><li>A minimum of five years of experience in consenting or environmental management, preferably within the offshore wind, energy, or marine sectors</li><li>Strong understanding of the offshore and onshore regulatory frameworks governing offshore wind projects, acquired through previous experience with marine licence, Section 36, Planning Permission and Development Consent Order applications</li><li>Experience in delivery of EIA, Habitat Regulations Assessments and other environmental assessments for offshore renewable projects, including managing external consultants and associated budgets</li><li>Excellent communication skills and an ability to liaise with a range of different internal and external parties</li><li>Well organised with the ability to manage multiple concurrent activities and interfaces on large projects</li></ul>Qualifications:<ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, marine science, environmental law or related discipline</li><li>A post-graduate qualification or relevant professional certification is desirable</li><li>Strong project management skills, with experience of, or qualifications in, a recognised project management system</li></ul>Attitude:<ul><li>Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times</li><li>Proven ability to establish and nurture relationships with colleagues and other stakeholders</li><li>Ability to work collaboratively to accelerate successful project delivery</li><li>Proactive individual who thrives in dynamic environments and is eager to take initiative in solving problems</li><li>Able to demonstrate alignment with Simply Blue’s company values</li></ul>Closing Date for applications: 30 May 2025 At Simply Blue Group, we know we are only as good as our people.
