SUMMARY

As the VP, Product - Decarbonization, you will work as both a doer and an enabler. This means overseeing the product strategy of external product portfolios. This person will lead teams that develop new ways to grow our external decarbonization platform by scaling product offerings that reach market-fit. The VP, Product will have direct involvement in and development of new product strategy and also a continued involvement in how to enhance the day-to-day Product operations. This role will manage a team of product managers to grow through translating strategy into objective, defining performance standards, setting clear expectations, providing feedback, and instilling a culture of high accountability and ownership. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership and Vision

  • Understand Nexamp’s vision and strategy to build a coherent product strategy that will maximize the value delivered for the business. 
  • Research ways of scaling up engaged users for decarbonization, including improvements to churn, retention, and referral/growth loops. 
  • Develop and evangelize product vision, strategy, OKR, roadmap, and execution plan for both internal and external product portfolios that have been or will be enhanced by Nexamp’s software development team

Strategize and Communicate 

  • Identify, track, and leverage data to evaluate risks, impact, scope, and priority against emergent roadmap items. 
  • Communicate progress against the product roadmap to key stakeholders across Nexamp. 

Coach and Manage

  • Lead a team of product managers in translating the product strategy into execution plans. 
  • Coach and grow the careers of product managers. 
  • Define clear outcomes for product managers to pursue. 
  • Establish effective practices for documentation and research. 

Innovate

  • Work cross-functionally to constantly identify improvements to be made to products and processes for solar project-enabling or customer-enabling teams. 
  • Cultivate partnerships across Nexamp to be an active participant who can present and help evaluate new product innovations. 

Execute 

  • Continuously inspire teams to aim towards set objectives and key results to deliver great outcomes. 
  • Be hands-on by owning one or more workstreams and being an active participant in scrum ceremonies. 
  • Crowdsource and curate user problems to identify opportunity areas that deliver value. 
  • Collaborate with product managers, stakeholders, and developers to break down larger initiatives into manageable, incremental value delivery cycle. 

Collaborate 

  • Identify and mitigate barriers to successful product planning, releases, and future growth with development. 
  • Oversee product managers’ maintenance of the product backlog and work with development to continuously optimize collaboration. 
  • Collaborate with Dev and IT to ensure proper SaaS tool support coverage. 
  • Collaborate with Dev and IT to evaluate software build versus buy decisions. 

QUALIFICATIONS

Ideal candidate must be enthusiastic, self-motivated, results-oriented, and operate well in a collaborative, team-oriented environment. 

  • 5+ years as a Product Manager or equivalent experience
  • Experience bringing new product to market
  • 1-3 year(s) managing others
  • Cross-functional leadership experience
  • Understanding of agile product development and product management methodologies
  • Possess innate desire to collect and analyze data to problem solve or inform decision making
  • Ability to simplify and communicate abstract or complex problems
  • Prior experience working with in-house or agency design team
