Job Description

About the Role:

As an Operations Excellence Manager at AppHarvest, you will join a team at the forefront of redefining sustainable agriculture by identifying, developing, and monitoring training & onboarding needs in the operations organization. You will be responsible for developing these needs on a scalable multi-site level. You will also be responsible for designing, planning, and implementing training programs, policies, and procedures to fulfill those needs, while overseeing the daily activities of training facilitators, leading training efforts to maximize employee productivity.

What You’ll Do:

  • Manage training process for operations developing qualified trainers and training materials through scheduling of training sessions and monitoring progress.
  • Manage entry level on-boarding processes, skill development and validation of mechanical understanding and technical competency.
  • Responsible for deployment of senior level training programs to include Leadership Fundamentals from the top down.
  • Provide training for Standard Operating Procedures, Job Aids and One Point lessons.
  • Development of Operations LMS to scale with business needs.
  • Track, audit, and measure the training efficiency results from training that is provided.
  • Responsible for overall preparation and maintenance of training tools, checklists, and procedures.
  • Primary support of new technologies as they become available.
  • Coordinate and prepare training schedules to accommodate facility needs.
  • Manage the development and execution of On-boarding events.
  • Ensure appropriate resources availability during training activities.
  • Collaborate with the operational leadership team, People Team, Food Safety & Quality Department, the EH&S Manager and IT/AI Research and Development groups.
  • Responsible for metric achievement rates as established by Management.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Minimum 5 years relevant training experience (2+ years as training manager) required in a manufacturing environment
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills required
  • Experience and the proven ability to successfully facilitate adult audiences of small to large groups required
  • Experience developing training programs required
  • Ability to interact and influence at all levels of the organization required
  • Creativity, flexibility, high energy, and the ability to work cross-functionally required
  • Experience and the proven ability to link training initiatives to overall business strategy and business objectives required
  • A deep respect for the capabilities of all people, required
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours as needed to meet the business demands of a shift operations pattern and across manufacturing sites
  • Experience training in a production/manufacturing environment strongly preferred
  • Experience working in a High-Performance Organization and/or Self-Directed Work Team environment preferred
  • Experience with People Change Management and in adult learning theory preferred
  • Continuous Improvement, TPM, lean six sigma experiences highly preferred
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel and MS PowerPoint required
