Senior Electrical Engineer

About the Role:

As a Senior Electrical Engineer at AppHarvest, you will join a team at the forefront of reinventing sustainable agriculture by developing the electrical features and systems that enable efficient and reliable autonomous harvesting robot operation. In the first 90 days you can expect to design and layout circuit boards, work with cross-disciplinary team members to evaluate and integrate off the shelf components, and help architect future designs.

What You'll Do:

• Take ownership of electrical subsystems from bring-up to field deployment
• Conduct and participate in design reviews for both electrical and cross-functional teams
• Evaluate components for integration into the Virgo platform
• Participate in root cause analysis of electrical and electromechanical assemblies
• Maintain and iterate on existing electrical designs
• Design and document PCBAs, interconnects and wire/cable harnesses
• Serve as a technical stakeholder in the development of the Virgo platform

What We’re Looking For:

• BS or higher in electrical engineering, computer engineering, robotics, or related field
• 5+ years of professional experience
• Demonstrated product development experience; ideally with one shipped product
• Experience in robotics, industrial controls, or automotive electronics
• An ace with the oscilloscope, logic analyzer and rework equipment
• A working knowledge of Motor Control at a system or board level
• Experience with Power Distribution/Wire Harness Design
• Some experience writing C/C++ for embedded applications
• Bonus: Fluent in KiCAD and SolidWorks Electrical
• Bonus: Experience with Battery Management Systems
• Bonus: Experience implementing CAN and using Industrial Fieldbuses
