Job Description

What will you do?

As Senior Manager Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) at AppHarvest, you will be joining the Finance team at the forefront of reinventing sustainable agriculture working under our VP, Finance & Investor Relations, to assist with the preparation of internal/external financial projections, materials for the Board of Directors, monthly financial analysis materials, and key performance indicators (KPIs), as well as providing ad-hoc analysis for the organization. This role will be based out of our corporate office in Lexington, KY.    

What does success look like? 

  1. Build and maintain financial models including AppHarvest’s short and long-term forecasts
  2. Develop data workflows that allow complex information to be distilled into actionable insights 
  3. Work with department leaders to create annual operating budgets, rolling forecasts, and scenario analyses  
  4. Assist in developing finance and business presentations for Board of Director presentations, as well as for external parties including AppHarvest's business partners  
  5. Aid in key finance projects and initiatives to drive process improvement and deliver deeper insights on critical business decisions  
  6. Support org-wide finance related questions, needs, and analyses 

What are the KPI’s?

  1. Establishing and leading monthly financial package update  
  2. Proficiency in data consolidation tool and helping business groups navigate it  
  3. Business insights and variances from journal entries  
  4. Scalability: moving from one operational farm to three by EoY 

What is needed for success? 

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, and/or related field  
  2. 6+ years in a corporate finance, accounting, and/or similar role 
  3. MBA or advanced degree a plus 
  4. Strong experience with financial planning and analysis – annual budgeting, capital budgeting, and long-term strategic planning, etc.  
  5. Experience in implementing effective and innovative software development methodologies
