We promote a safe working environment and push people to shape and progress their careers so that we grow our talent within the company.What you’ll be doingAs a Lead Design Engineer, you will:<ul><li>Own basic and detailed engineering of projects from concept to commissioning; the development of technical specifications, tender evaluations, drawings and settings &amp; configurations.</li><li>Assist the development of pre-contract design and delivery of projects by leading/supporting the technical aspects.</li><li>Develop innovative and sustainable solutions for a growing and diverse network.</li><li>Assess engineering documentation, feasibility and compliance with business requirements and inform the preparation of accurate budgets for new projects.</li><li>Ensure adherence to current legislation, policies and operational requirements.</li><li>Provide technical support to the Project team and site/ construction teams during the lifespan of the project.</li><li>Responsible for engineering documentation following quality processes to meet deliverables for PQP’s and BETTA.</li><li>Assist with evaluation and apply ‘new ideas’, technical developments, new equipment and alternative working methods to provide cost savings, efficiencies and improved safety, reflected in review of policies and standards.</li><li>Provide guidance / training to developing engineers and graduates to progress their technical knowledge.  </li></ul>What you’ll bring<ul><li>Degree in an Engineering discipline with relevant experience.</li><li>Good people and communication skills and the ability to form effective working relationships with other individuals, departments and businesses.</li><li>Ability to implement, apply and promote CDM and Health &amp; Safety best practice in a design environment.</li><li>Experience developing detailed design of substation protection and control systems, including drawings, settings calculations and development of IED settings/configuration files.</li><li>Research, development and implementation of new technologies and engineering solutions to achieve high standards and implement reductions in project lifetime costs.</li><li>Proven experience implementing IEC 61850 solutions with knowledge in developing configurations such as SCD, ICD and CID files and an understanding of IP networking principles.  </li><li>Experience utilising PCM 600, Digsi5 and Enervista, the use of scripting tools (such as python) to automate calculations and processes, and/or experience of integration with SCADA systems are advantageous but not essential.</li></ul>   What’s in it for you As well as a competitive salary which is reviewed annually, you can also enjoy a number of other benefits.
