We’re looking for talented, committed individuals to join our team as we push onward toward certifying the Joby aircraft, scaling our manufacturing, and launching our initial commercial service.<h2>Overview</h2><p>Joby is seeking a talented senior level electrical engineer to join our team designing all-electric aircraft. This engineer will work closely with mechanical, software, and other cross-functional teams. You'll be taking ownership of key electrical subsystems and printed-circuit-boards from design through prototyping and to product. This is a hands-on position. Optimizing designs for reliability, weight, and efficiency will be essential. This position may be based in our San Carlos, CA or Santa Cruz, CA locations!</p><h2>Responsibilities</h2><ul> <li>Verification activities for airborne electronic hardware, following DO-254, AC 20-152a and ARP4751 processes</li> <li>Debug issues discovered in verification, qualification, and flight testing and identify solutions with minimal impact</li> <li>Identify design improvements and implement them, creating clear and readable schematics for digital and mixed-signal printed-circuit-boards</li> <li>Write requirements, participate in DFMEAs + create and carry out test and validation plans</li></ul><h2>Required</h2><ul> <li>B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related discipline</li> <li>7+ years of relevant industry experience </li> <li>Strong EE fundamentals, including familiarity with:  <ul>   <li>Power conversion (linear and switching regulators)</li>   <li>High-speed digital design and layout</li>   <li>Signal conditioning and conversion (ADCs, filters)</li>   <li>Discrete semiconductor design (FETs, BJTs, Diodes)</li>  </ul></li> <li>Schematic capture and PCB design</li> <li>Experience following DO-254 and ARP4751</li> <li>Hands-on experience with building and debugging hardware</li> <li>Great communication skills</li></ul><h2>Desired</h2><ul> <li>Advanced degree in relevant discipline </li> <li>3+ years developing airborne electronic hardware for civil aviation</li> <li>Familiarity with Altium Designer</li> <li>Design-for-reliability, including use of DFMEA and fault trees</li> <li>Designing for high EMI environments</li></ul><h2>Additional Information</h2><p>Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $146,900 - $195,900/yr.
