We are looking for an experienced leader, ideally from aerospace or automotive, to lead our team to architect our Production System of the future. As the Industrial Engineering Leader, you will architect the Production System strategy, forecast and validate capacity, and optimize the factory design to meet company volume and cost targets. This position requires a systems mindset with the ability to navigate between fine details and the big picture and a wide breadth of manufacturing knowledge. It also requires collaborating with multiple stakeholders including engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, facilities, finance, construction, and more.

What you'll do

  • Define the Production System Requirements and architecture 
  • Coordinate and integrate Production Plans from several Integrated Product Teams
  • Coordinate with Quality to ensure the factory is certifiable under FAA Part 21(Production Certificate)
  • Design the overall process flow and conceptual layout for the factory
  • Analyze build sequences and own capacity analysis for the entire production system (headcount, machines, layouts, supply chain, inventory levels)
  • Define material delivery plans (inbound and outbound), crew cycling plans, tool cycling plans
  • Ensure production lines are balanced (takt time)
  • Create long term expansion plans for Full Rate Production
  • Define capacity and cost metrics 
  • Lead the framework to forecast capital or operational expenditures against long range plan
  • Conduct trade-off analyses to drive key manufacturing business decisions
  • Run what-if scenarios and optimization experiments

Requirements

  • B.S. in Mechanical / Industrial / Manufacturing Engineering / Operations Research, or equivalent. 
  • 10+ years of manufacturing experience with at least 3-5 years managing cross functional teams
  • Deep understanding and knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and tools
  • Experience with capacity planning  and discrete event simulation software (i.e. FlexSiM, AnyLogic)
  • Experience with factory layout, equipment or process planning
  • Experience with data analytics & visualization
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and visual communication skills
  • Ability to travel, in the future, once we start the construction and launch phase

Desired

  • M.S. in Industrial Engineering / Operations Research / Engineering Systems or equivalent
  • Experience with composites manufacturing
  • New product introductions
  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning and Manufacturing Execution Systems deployment
