To secure our future, we must first understand the ground beneath us, the foundation of our civilization.<h2>The Role</h2>As the VP of Finance at Bedrock, you will report directly to the CEO and will be responsible for leading and scaling the finance and accounting functions. You will drive communicating financial performance and projections to board members and investors, implementing financial processes and systems, and overseeing FP&amp;A, Accounting and other initiatives, including venture capital fundraising.   If you want to do innovative work with new and compelling challenges, then join us!<h2>What You'll Do</h2><ul style=""><li>Develop and execute the company's financial strategy, including creative financial engineering.</li><li>Own all aspects of Finance operations, including:<ul style=""><li>Regular financial reporting (e.g. preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements), forecasts, planning, budgeting, financial analysis, cash management, and procurement</li><li>Timely and accurately provide reporting of financial information to internal parties, government regulators and outside agencies</li></ul></li><li>Maintain a detailed financial operating model and provide oversight and guidance to the management team.</li><li>Lead and develop team of finance and accounting professionals, currently one full-time team member owning accounting management.</li><li>Own financial storytelling for key stakeholders, including board members, investors, and lenders</li><li>Own the  risk management function for the overall company</li><li>Ensure the company complies with all applicable financial regulations, including management of external tax providers.</li></ul><h2>About You</h2>Experience &amp; Expertise<ul style=""><li>Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent certification (e.g., CPA or CFA)</li><li>10+ years of experience in senior finance roles. </li><li>Strong understanding of financial principles and practices, including accrual accounting.</li><li>Extensive experience with financial modeling, analysis, and reporting.</li><li>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.</li><li>Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.</li></ul>What You’ll Bring–Preferences:<ul style=""><li>Strategic Finance &amp; Forecasting – Long-range planning, scenario modeling, and capital deployment strategy across R&amp;D, go-to-market, and manufacturing.</li><li>Venture-Stage Capital Markets Expertise – Experience raising equity (Series A/B/C), managing investor relations, and crafting pitch narratives with founders.</li><li>Hardware + Services Financial Modeling – Comfort building and managing cost structures, margin models, and pricing for HaaS, DaaS, and multi-client data licensing models.</li><li>GovCon &amp; Dual-Use Acumen – Familiarity with government grant/contract accounting (SBIR, OTAs, IDIQs), cost-plus models, and indirect rate structures.</li><li>Cash Flow Management – Proven experience managing burn rate and extending runway without stalling key initiatives.</li><li>Budgeting &amp; Departmental Partnering – Capable of partnering with R&amp;D, BD, Ops, and Field teams to track and manage budgets cross-functionally.</li><li>Systems Implementation – Stands up and scales finance systems (ERP, billing, inventory, revenue recognition).</li><li>Board &amp; Audit Preparedness – Board deck readiness, KPIs, and prep for diligence or audit-level reviews.</li><li>Contract &amp; Risk Oversight – Can review commercial and government contracts for financial risks and contingencies.</li><li>Team Building – Ability to hire, manage, and scale a lean, high-performance finance org.</li></ul><h2>Explore the last true frontier left on Earth with us</h2>We are seeking mission oriented, purpose driven teammates who are willing to push boundaries to learn and execute when things seem impossible.
