The Role

We're looking for an experienced, mission-driven Product Manager (Smart Home) to join us in enabling the grid-connected smart home of the future. In this role, you will act as Product Owner to OhmConnect’s Devices & Automation team, working with engineering, design, and marketing teammates.

The ideal candidate is someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment where priorities can change quickly and where autonomy and personal initiative are essential for success. They will have a strong product background, a well-rounded understanding of consumer tech, and a passion for saving the planet.

What You Will Do

• Ensure that smart home devices are a core part of the product experience in a way that addresses user needs, is easy and intuitive, and benefits the health of the power grid — across our web app, our own smart plug (OhmPlug), its companion mobile app, as well as user instructions.
• Own the lifecycle of smart home devices within the OhmConnect experience for users, from learning why OhmConnect gets even better with smart home automation, to choosing and setting up devices, linking them to OhmConnect, and enrolling them in energy-saving events.
• Collaborate with partner companies to create and implement user flows that introduce smart home customers to OhmConnect and seamlessly bring them onto our platform.
• Design and execute device-related user stories across the OhmConnect platform, drawing on an understanding of both user needs and technical feasibility.
• Support the engineering team in designing, building, and maintaining integrations with third-party APIs smart home devices.
• Help inform the roadmap for new device functionalities, including integrations with third- party smart home APIs and automation or data features that drive user value.

About You

• 3+ years of experience in product management
• Excellent problem-solving and project management skills
• Familiarity with Internet of Things technologies and the smart home industry ecosystem, or demonstrated ability to rapidly pick up a new technical expertise area
• A track record of leading development of products and features from inception to delivery
• Comfortable discussing technology concepts, and experience evaluating tradeoffs and new opportunities with technical team members
• The ability to work autonomously and self-driven in a fast-paced, agile and collaborative cross-team environment (preferably in a startup)
• Willing to wear multiple hats to deliver a great customer experiences: communicate and help craft full experience from shipping operations, installation and use within our service
• Comfortable working with external device partners on product integrations
• Strong communication & writing skills: you will be working with multiple internal & external teams and helping draft user communications
