Job Description

Location: Flexible

We’re making zero carbon happen

We’re OVO Group, a big family of companies united by a single vision: to get to zero carbon, fast.

We call this Plan Zero – and it shows how we’ll be fighting the climate crisis and transforming the way people use energy over the next decade. To do this, we need the sharpest minds. Are you up for the challenge?

Do great green things with OVO Energy

So much has changed since we launched in 2009.  Our goal remains the same though: make energy cheaper, greener, and simpler. Just as it was on day one.

Everyone belongs at OVO

Our aim is to build a diverse and inclusive movement: teams of brilliant people, with unique talents, skills, passions, and experiences.

We encourage everyone to join us, whatever your gender identity, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, age, life experience, or background. So please come as you are – we can’t wait to meet you.

Where in the world of OVO will I be working?

The OVO Group’s mission is to drive progress towards net zero carbon living. To reach zero, we need everyone to come together. Not as customers buying energy, but as members with a common goal.  We believe in great service that's friendly and reliable.  At the heart of this huge positive change is Field Services.  As part of Operations, Field Services is building a supportive zero carbon community - bringing our members closer to green energy, technology and the guidance they need to make change happen.   You’ll be working with our Fleet team, as part of Operations Support.

What will I be doing?

Working at the heart of Field Operations, we want you to bring your strong fleet knowledge,  development skills, broad understanding of data management, and strong stakeholder and consultative skills to ensure we continually maintain the best fleet possible whilst reducing motor fleet costs.

The key responsibilities for the role are:

  • Identify opportunities for improving our fleet of light commercial vehicles. Perform cost and data analysis and identify opportunities to reduce operating expenses and carbon footprint impacts. Review recommendations with the Senior Fleet Manager to implement improvements.
  • Work collaboratively to create and develop predictive models, insight on industry trends and peer benchmarks to highlight where OVO can take action to maintain a competitive advantage
  • Developing the strategy for continuous improvement in driver safety: fleet performance, cost optimisation, vehicle utilisation and environmental standards.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and suppliers  to address obstacles that act as a barrier to unlocking progress to electrifying our leased fleet before 2025, in accordance with our Plan Zero aims.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the availability and quality of vehicles is matching driver needs
  • Identify and consolidate vehicle demand, especially in regards to peaks and ramps, to ensure that our fleet is managed in line with the highest quality and cost efficiency standards.
  • Constantly work with the Fleet Helpdesk to innovate and implement best practice in Fleet Operations and safety, sharing knowledge and helping to resolve driver and supplier queries quickly.
  • Assist with training and process reviews with the Fleet Helpdesk team
  • Act as a point of escalation from the Helpdesk for complex or recurring issues that impact our Fleet. Take ownership of escalated cases that need specialist knowledge or input to resolve.
  • Responsible for the on-time deployment of vehicles in the respect of Fleet Supply plans, influencing multiple teams to achieve on-time deployment, monitoring utilisation of the fleet
  • Deliver improved financial performance through management of our suppliers, utilising exceptional problem solving skills to work through difficult challenges
  • Comfortable driving KPIs (i.e. compliance and safety metrics) with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Field support for multiple people managers, owning escalations and providing targeted support to drive adherence to business goals and initiatives.
  •

Is this the job for me?

  • Experience within a fleet team/environment
  • Experience in working with a large fleet 500+ vehicles, using the home location model
  • Experience in training, leading and developing a high performing team.
  • Experience influencing and recommending solutions to meet deliverables through various mediums such as presentations, events and meet and greets.
  • Experience in developing structural solutions to problems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and establish positive and productive relationships
  • Ability to apply technical solutions to day-to-day problems with a thorough understanding of both driver and technical issues to promote cooperation in a stressful environment
