About This Role

We are looking for a Senior Director, Talent Acquisition to join our People & Culture team immediately. In this role you will provide strategic and tactical leadership for the design and delivery of recruiting solutions across a global and rapidly growing organization. You will be an instrumental part of the continued evolution of best-in-class recruiting strategies and programs to ensure the acquisition of top talent for all levels within the organization. You will bring your deep recruiting leadership experience to take a world-class recruiting team to the next level and meet ambitious growth goals in the US, EMEA, and APAC.

This position is ideally based in Santa Barbara, CA however we are open to candidates who can commit to meetings 1-2x per week in our Santa Barbara headquarters. This position will report directly to the Chief People Officer.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and execute a global talent acquisition strategy by creating comprehensive, high-quality sourcing and recruiting processes, establishing best practices, processes and policies, and providing oversight of projects designed to maximize return on staffing investment
  • Establish relationships and provide thought leadership to senior executives and People & Culture leaders around talent needs. Develop strategies to meet those needs and drive accountability in recruiting and selection to ensure long-term workforce planning
  • Take an active role in diversity, equity, and inclusion programs especially centered around attracting and retaining robust and diverse talent pipelines 
  • Develop, manage, and inspire a global high-performing team of recruiting professionals
  • Actively lead and champion recruitment technology applications and process improvements for the talent acquisition function
  • Create processes and tools to report and measure key talent acquisition success metrics, and regularly communicate the effectiveness and efficiency of the talent acquisition function to executives and hiring managers
  • Design and implement recruitment messages to build and enhance a strong global employer brand through social media and other mediums
  • Stay abreast of new trends in the industry and marketplace and industry-leading knowledge of recruiting issues and trends, related analytics, and labor laws that have short and long-term implications on the profitability of the business and its recruiting efforts
  • In partnership with the Executive Team, manage Apeel’s global headcount plan and partner with executives on their hiring priorities
  • Build relationships and influence in a highly academic, scientific environment. This includes setting strategies and creating programs to attract specialized talent from a variety of sources including academia. Prior experience setting and leading campus recruiting strategic plans preferred

What You Bring

  • 8+ years of progressive full life cycle talent acquisition experience with demonstrated success leading a global talent acquisition team (experience in technology, biosciences, or large manufacturing/supply chain companies strongly preferred)
  • Demonstrated success coaching junior and experienced team members to success; you are capable of providing consistent and candid feedback and creating a supportive and results-oriented team culture
  • Proven track record in designing, executing, and managing talent acquisition strategies and delivering results
  • Comfort interfacing with senior leadership and can quickly establish credibility and build effective relationships
  • Innovative approach to challenges and a proven ability to deliver solutions in a rapidly growing and ever-changing environment
  • Expertise in the development of recruiting processes, procedures, and creative sourcing strategies
  • Experience in systems implementation, contract/vendor management, and contract rate negotiation
  • A hands-on work style with a willingness to roll up your sleeves and partner with your team to do the work
  • Strong comfort with data and analysis, able to extract meaningful results and patterns from talent acquisition data
  • Cultural awareness and sensitivity both domestically and internationally, and able to be a steward of the corporate culture the leadership is striving to build and maintain
  • Proven ability to learn and understand various complex business functions and processes and correlate this to building effective job profiles and assessment processes
  • Operates with high ethical standards and integrity at all times and able to maintain the highest level of confidentiality on all matters
