About the Job
Program Associate/Analyst, Heavy Industry
Context
The Center for Green Market Activation™ (GMA) is a U.S.-based, globally oriented nonprofit accelerating the transition to zero-carbon goods and services in heavy industry and transport. Launched in 2024, GMA leverages book-and-claim systems, collective procurement, and buyers’ alliances to drive decarbonization in hard-to-abate sectors—from aviation to trucking to chemicals.
GMA seeks employees committed to addressing the climate crisis, who are highly entrepreneurial, possess strong people skills, and can quickly learn and communicate complex technical subjects with authority. Our motto is “Getting more done, together”, and we prioritize collaboration and implementation over perfection.
Work/Life Balance
GMA takes work/life balance very seriously. Outside of stakeholder meetings, we will be as flexible as possible on work hours to meet your particular home life needs. Staff will be expected to work an average of 8 hours/day.
Location
Remote, contiguous United States (no AK or HI due to time zone). Applicant must currently live in and have the right to work in the United States. Preference will be given to applicants in CA, CO, DC, GA, MA, MD, MN, NH, NJ, NY, TX, WA.
Key Responsibilities and Qualifications
GMA is seeking a mission-driven, entrepreneurial, and highly organized Program Associate or Analyst to support both its Chemicals and Cement &
Concrete sector programs. The position will report to senior program leads and contribute to sector-wide decarbonization by supporting the design and execution of book and claim systems and buyers alliances.
These heavy industry programs aim to accelerate deep decarbonization in the chemicals and cement & concrete sectors while also addressing broader environmental impacts, such as plastic waste. The associate/analyst will support program efforts through research and analysis, stakeholder coordination, and content development related to the decarbonization of ammonia-based fertilizers, plastics, high-value chemicals (HVCs, particularly olefins), and low-carbon cement and concrete solutions, as well as the design of systems needed to support and scale such decarbonization.
The ideal candidate will be an analytical thinker, detail-oriented, and an excellent communicator with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, collaborative, and mission-driven environment. They should have a strong interest in market-based strategies for decarbonizing corporate supply chains—particularly in heavy industry—and be eager to thrive in a role that combines technical analysis, stakeholder coordination, and strategic content development.
Responsibilities will entail:
Provide support to GMA’s Chemicals and Cement & Concrete program teams, contributing to both technical content and program execution.
Conduct and synthesize research and analysis across a range of subject matter areas, evaluating data sources, drawing insights, and presenting findings in a clear and actionable format for both internal and external audiences.
Play a coordination role in pilot procurement efforts, including scoping, stakeholder engagement, planning, and synthesis of results to inform future program design.
Develop compelling and visually effective presentation materials, including stakeholder briefings and internal strategy decks, with a particular focus on PowerPoint and content clarity.
Draft and edit content for member briefings, public-facing materials, and internal strategy documents—translating complex technical and market information into accessible language.
Assist with internal team coordination, data management, and document organization.
Support cross-programmatic collaboration as needed, helping to ensure consistency and knowledge sharing across GMA’s sectoral initiatives.
Skills and Qualifications
Required:
Strong commitment to addressing the climate crisis and interest in supporting heavy industry decarbonization.
Bachelor's Degree in engineering, environmental studies, sustainability, energy, public policy, or a related field.
Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines.
Excellent written and verbal communication.
Strong analytical and research capabilities.
Comfort working in a remote, entrepreneurial team environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint).
Preferred:
1–5 years of experience in a relevant climate, industrial, or policy-related field.
Experience or coursework in one or more of the following: construction materials, plastic or fertilizer production, industrial decarbonization, life cycle analysis, or environmental markets.
Familiarity with corporate climate commitments (e.g., Science Based Targets), Scope 3 accounting, or book-and-claim systems.
Graduate degree in a relevant field a plus.
Salary and Benefits
Salary: $65,000-$105,000 / year depending on location and qualifications
Bonus: Eligible for up to 15% year-end performance bonus
Benefits:
Full health, vision and dental insurance coverage for employee and 50% coverage for all dependents
6% matching 401k
Unlimited PTO
Paid day off for all US Federal holidays, the day after Thanksgiving and the week between Christmas and New Years
Unlimited sick days (doctors notice required in extreme situations)
3 months paid parental leave
