The Commercial Analytics team is responsible for working closely with Form Energy's Commercial Operations team and customers to uncover and articulate the value of Form Energy's product(s). This will involve identifying customers' interests and concerns, designing analytics approaches in partnership with other internal teams, ensuring that all customer-facing material is highly curated, meeting our quality standards, and delivering the desired impact.
Part of the broader Business Development and Analytics Group, this role will lead and manage a growing team of commercial analytics analysts and use and manage various data and modeling tools, primarily Formware, our flagship optimization and modeling product.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead and manage a team of analysts, and fill in where needed while the team is small, providing the value analysis that drives our project proposals for customers and market assessments for commercial strategy
  • Work with Form's Commercial Operations team to manage ongoing customer accounts and prioritize customers and markets – 1) mapping customer requirements to economic and optimization model specifications, 2) aggregating and cleaning data, 3) setting up and running complex, optimization-based models, 4) interpreting and visualizing model outputs, and 5) quick financial analysis 
  • Ensure all client-facing materials are developed and delivered to the highest standards
  • Work with Analytics Product Management to develop and manage a process for ingesting new opportunities into the analytics workflow, managing and reporting with relevant stakeholders
  • Work with Form's Analytics Product Management, Software Engineering, and Software R&D teams to – 1) improve Form Energy's processes around analytics projects, resulting in faster, more effective, and more profitable engagements, 2) formulate production-quality requirements for developing new tools or features that allow Form to deliver or communicate differentiated value, and 3) create collateral - slides, memos, papers - and storytelling techniques to communicate technical and complex analyses clearly and concisely to internal and external stakeholders

What You'll Bring:

  • Passion for our mission, sustainability, and climate change
  • BS in economics, engineering, mathematics, or other technical subjects
  • Senior-level experience (5-10 years) in the power sector, or a combination of graduate schooling and experience. 
  • Experience leading and directly managing a team
  • Demonstrated commercial experience scoping and managing projects that require complex, data-intense modeling
  • Ability to uncover and translate customer needs and wants into quantitative inputs
  • Experience in market modeling or financial analysis in the renewable energy or energy storage space (preferred)
  • Deep understanding of U.S. power market fundamentals and dynamics
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to convey information and content easily and effectively to stakeholders and customers
  • Ability to collect and organize large data sets, run extensive quantitative analysis to address complex questions, and present complex results in straightforward and compelling ways
  • Familiarity using Python and other data tools to perform complex analyses and data visualization (software engineering-level experience is not required)
