Role DescriptionThe Software Engineering team at Form builds innovative internal and customer-facing tools that touch every part of Form’s product and company. We’re a Python/React/AWS shop, and use a modern data stack including Snowflake and Dagster.
Form Energy’s approach to energy storage business development is uniquely data-driven—everything from product pricing to asset sizing to regulatory filings are backed by industry-leading analytics and optimization. The Formware team is responsible for the suite of software products that makes these algorithmic capabilities standardized, scalable, interpretable, and trusted, all while keeping things flexible to support creative decision-making and high-value asset operations.
As the engineering manager of the Formware team, you’ll guide and grow a team of software engineers to execute on this challenge. This is a unique opportunity to leverage and expand your software, energy, and management experience to make a direct impact on climate change as part of a fast-growing team.

What You'll Do:

  • Guide the technical development of a portfolio of software tools for energy storage planning and dispatch, including CLIs, Python libraries, web tools, and data pipelines
  • Hire and develop a diverse, high-performing, highly engaged software engineering team
  • Represent your team in collaborations with Analytics, Commercial, Optimization Algos, Product, and other Software Eng teams to align roadmaps and take accountability for team priorities
  • Act primarily as a people manager and technical advisor, with occasional hands-on technical work to fill gaps while the team is small

What You'll Bring:

  • Minimum 1 year of management experience, including direct hiring and people management responsibilities
  • Minimum 7+ years of professional software/data engineering experience
  • Experience leading the development of data-intensive or algorithm-driven software systems
  • A management style that embodies Form Energy’s values of Humanity, Excellence, and Creativity by emphasizing innovative problem solving, rapid cycles of learning, high standards for quality, growth, and inclusion
  • Background in renewables, storage, or utilities, or a strong desire to learn. If you’re not familiar with terms like PPA, CCA, IRP, LMP, LCOE, and ELCC, you will be soon after you join!
