Role DescriptionWe are looking for a Sr Manager, Capital Projects to help our company through a critical growth period.  The Capital Projects Manager will lead Site Development projects which will take us from Pilot scale to a medium and subsequently growing Manufacturing footprint over the course of several years and projects.  Close interactions with a variety of internal teams to develop a world class manufacturing facility plan.  Further engagement will include working with external organizations such as economic development offices, municipalities, real estate brokers, architecture and engineering firms and environmental agencies.  Close construction oversight, from site selection to General Contractor selection, permitting lifecycle and excellent project controls.  

What You'll Do:

  • Select and manage all A&E, MEP, Environmental or other necessary vendors associated with Site Development
  • Create systems and programs for any contractor, subcontractor and supplier coordination, material tracking, document control (submittals, RFIs and change orders) and progress reporting
  • Provide internal stakeholders with updates to project designs, schedules and cost controls
  • Identify and alert internal leadership of potential project impacts and develop solutions to mitigate any further impacts to schedule and cost
  • Maintain all communications between project teams and stakeholders in the form of minutes and appropriate Construction Projects Management tools
  • Develop scope of work documents in coordination with internal stakeholders
  • Development of bid documents, and manage the bid leveling process
  • Analyze contractor and subcontractor proposals and review bid tabulations
  • Collect designs requirements and subsequent feedback from cross functional department groups and develop a strategy for delivery of design needs
  • Coordinate and attend project job walks 
  • Own, manage and contribute to weekly Owner, Architect and Contractor meetings
  • Develop relationships with key external agencies, municipalities and economic development agencies where appropriate
  • Manage construction change orders to flexibly enable changing requirements in an R&D environment.

What You'll Bring:

  • Minimum of 5 years in a construction project management role
  • 5-10 years of professional experience
  • Experience planning and delivering small to large scale office, lab and/or manufacturing construction projects
  • Experience developing and managing construction schedules and budgets
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate with and influence critical stakeholders and external agencies, leaders and influencers
  • Experience working in a growing R&D and manufacturing environment
  • Ability to navigate all levels of the organization to understand current and upcoming needs, cross-prioritize initiatives and communicate expectations
  • Customer oriented mindset with a focus on finding robust solutions to problems in order to enable progress
  • Experience managing small teams of contract employees in support of capital projects
  • Experience in development of office and associated amenities for manufacturing spaces
  • Ability to manage through fast moving, start up challenges with ease and comfort.
