Job Description

Form Energy is a U.S. technology and manufacturing company that is developing and commercializing cost-effective multi-day energy storage systems to enable the global electricity system to run on 100% low-cost renewable energy, every day of the year. Driven by Form’s core values of humanity, excellence, and creativity, our team is deeply motivated and inspired to create a better world. We seek to transform the energy landscape and do our part in making the world better for all. We are supported by leading investors who share a common belief that low-cost, multi-day energy storage will be a key enabler of tomorrow’s zero carbon electric system.
Role Description
This is an opportunity to have a direct and daily impact in an exciting energy technology startup.  We are looking for a versatile and flexible engineer with the bandwidth and drive to solve a range of problems. You will be responsible for designing and prototyping electrical and mechanical components embedded in Form Energy’s core energy storing reactor, as well as the surrounding system and balance-of-plant. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, electrical/mechanical interfaces, embedded sensors, and electronics packaging. The ideal candidate will have a broad, interdisciplinary background in electrical and mechanical engineering with experience designing low cost electrical and electronic assemblies into high-power, long-lifetime products. You will work closely with a cross-functional team of chemical, materials, and mechanical engineers to design, prototype, and test long-duration storage systems. Candidates must be willing to roll up their sleeves and support a wide variety of prototyping efforts across the company, driving us through a series of internal system prototypes.

What you'll do:

  • Work with team to design, test, and implement custom electronics into Form’s long-duration energy storage product
  • Design, test and implement low-cost, easy to assemble, high reliability electromechanical systems
  • Work with partners to develop electrical components like high current (100’s of Amps) connectors, wire harnesses and disconnects
  • Ensure designs meet functional and safety requirements and are compliant with industry standards
  • Execute trade studies around the electrical system architecture to identify optimal configurations
  • Execute validation testing on power systems components
  • Contribute to hands-on product prototyping efforts

What you'll bring:

  • BS required (MS preferred) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a similar field
  • 5-7 years of experience in renewable energy, automotive or other relevant industry
  • Prior experience in Energy Storage, Battery Systems, Renewable Energy, Utility, and other related industry experience a plus
  • Direct experience in product development within an early stage environment
  • Experience with first-principles modeling and design
