Role DescriptionWe're in a phase of growth – join our team and make a difference. You'll be helping to position our breakthrough technology, accelerate our product hardware, and be an early member of a growing team and company that directly impacts climate change. The Statistician position is vital to Form Energy and an opportunity for you to solve real-world problems, tackling climate change. This role is an IC and is critical in developing our experimental designs and data analysis to maximize our experimental time and resources. This role will require you to learn quickly about our physical systems and domain and have an innate intuition for choosing the right statistical tools and designs for our experiments. Consulting with Scientists and Engineers from R&D and Advanced Manufacturing Teams, the Statistician, in addition to significant experimental design, will also develop case studies, write memos, and develop presentations and training, specifically for analysis and frequently repeated methods to build a shared learning group.

What you'll do:

  • Design complex industrial experiments, making experiments better
  • Advise and train scientists on experimental designs, so they can better plan and analyze their experiments
  • Attend data reviews and support scientists on data analysis using R, JMP, and Python
  • Identify gaps in our data quality and recommend solutions
  • Develop case studies on research and analysis that we often repeat
  • Further develop, guide, and contribute to a shared learning environment and learn new techniques and software tools as needed

What you'll bring:

  • Passion for our mission, sustainability, and climate change
  • Master's or PhD in an engineering field with statistical training or a Master's or PhD in statistics with relevant field experience in test
  • Proven experimental design experience
  • Collaborative with clear communication, a pragmatic approach to problem-solving, and creative use of resources
  • Bonus points for a background in renewables, storage, or utilities, or a strong desire to learn
