About the Role:  

As Vice President of Total Rewards and People Operations  you will be responsible for leading Performance & Reward, HRIS Integration and Analytics, Shared Services, and HR Compliance teams in a growth-oriented organization. The ideal candidate is a proven leader with a track record of operational acumen and excellence, building and growing high-performing teams and preparing organizations to scale

The VP of Total Rewards and Operations is a critical force behind the success of the people function. They will be accountable for the design and execution of compensation and benefits philosophies, policies and procedures aligned to business objectives, and tools and resources; ensuring the achievement of consistent market-driven rewards and recognition outcomes that attract, retain, and motivate Planet employees. 

This role will collaborate with People Business Partners, Talent Acquisition, Talent Development , Finance and Legal to implement, improve, modify, and support the People Operational processes.  In addition, you will be called upon to consult with and partner on all aspects of Planet’s people operations to shape and define the People Operations team strategy and associated operating model, which will include, but is not limited to workforce management, HR shared services, performance and reward, data and analytics and HR technology.

As VP of People Operations you will report directly to Planet’s Chief People Officer (CPO) and be a key member of the People Leadership team and Planet’s broader leadership team.  You will be a trusted advisor to teams across Planet.

Impact You’ll Own:

You will manage a small team of Planet employees dedicated to the continuous improvement of our People Operations processes and procedures.  Areas of focus for Planet include:

  • Partnering with Chief People Officer, external compensation consultants and Compensation Committee on the strategy, design, and implementation of executive compensation programs
  • Designing and operationalizing company-wide, global compensation and benefit strategy and programs
  • Overseeing all project and program management activities related to company M&A strategy including the people related work during the due diligence and integration process
  • Managing a foundational and scalable job architecture structure including leveling, benchmarking and supporting our company-wide budgeting and forecasting
  • Directly managing, training, and developing the Total Rewards Operations team
  • Overseeing all systems, tools, reporting, and compliance measures to ensure the people team is able to operationalize people practices and programs across the organization
  • Designing and managing the execution of the HR Operations strategy, focusing on HR data, reporting and talent analytics, compliance and management of the key operational needs of the HR organization, including continuous improvement
  • Setting the overall direction and driving the continuous enhancement of operations & systems capabilities in which to reduce manual processes, and create simple, compliant processes. Be an effective change agent in support of the implementation of programs and processes
  • Leading the creation of key employee lifecycle processes, including compliance, equity administration, performance management, onboarding, off-boarding, leave management, compensation, and benefits administration
  • Defining a best-in-class new hire experience and creating the systems, tools, and training to scale that vision across the organization
  • Defining the KPIs to measure the effectiveness of People operations and delivery
  • Developing metrics and scorecards, capturing critical data from HR systems involving employee data, including but not limited to, performance, pay, turnover, employee engagement, diversity, training, skills, and EEO
  • Spearheading process improvement, including evaluating existing systems and procedures, providing recommendations for changes and improvements, and implementing changes
  • Mentoring, coaching and inspiring existing talent capability and creating opportunities for career development and mobility.
  • Integrating HR systems across the enterprise. Ensuring that HR technology is optimized to meet the needs of the business and employees utilizing accurate data from these systems to help advise and drive business decisions
  • Shaping the strategy for critical business initiatives and driving the successful execution of business initiatives, including scaling HR Operations (people and process) for overall growth and expansion
  • Overseeing and ensuring compliance programs, such as Affirmative Action Plan, EEO1 Reporting, and I-9 compliance, are maintained in accordance with legal requirements and company guidelines, including training and documentation

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of relevant Human Resources experience, including responsibility for managing globally distributed teams
  • Proven success leading total rewards and operations in high growth companies
  • Experience leading large-scale system implementations as a subject matter expert and project manager
  • Strategic thinker for how to utilize systems and optimize processes for best practices
  • Proficient in setting and managing priorities based on HR systems and overall HR needs
  • Strong foundational knowledge of HR systems, operations, compliance and technology
  • Exhibited consultative style with confirmed experience supporting senior business leaders, including demonstrated ability to lead discussions with senior business leaders
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment
  • Ability to professionally handle confidential material and associated issues
  • Outstanding attention to detail, project management and operational chops

What Makes You Stand Out:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resource Administration or other related field
  • History of building and implementing internal HR compliance and training programs
  • Experience building and managing high-performing global teams
  • Experience with PMI and M&A

The base pay range targeted for this position in Colorado is: $244-800 - XXX. This role is eligible for equity.
