We are looking for an experienced, motivated, and mission-aligned Associate Scientist to join the Product Development and Commercialization team. This role primarily works on scaling up new products and manufacturing processes. As an Associate Scientist, you are a technically savvy individual who loves a good data set and interesting problems to solve. You have the ability to thrive in a diverse, dynamic team. You are a self-starter that is naturally curious and enjoys working in a fast-past environment and have a tendency to continuously challenge assumptions to seek innovative solutions.

You Will:

  • Lead the technical development and commercialization of multiple new product introductions from pilot through full manufacturing scale.
  • Execute pilot and plant scale trials, product testing and transfer new products and processes to manufacturing plants
  • Develop, conduct, and analyze experiments using design of experiment philosophy
  • Work effectively across functions (R&D, Product Development and Business functions) to deliver on project goals and timelines.
  • Coordinate cross functional efforts, organize meetings, and facilitate knowledge transfer and decision making.
  • Guide technical communication with external partners, vendors, and customers.
  • Manage multiple projects and adhere to fast timelines.
  • Mentor food technologists and interns as required.
  • 30% travel required

You Have:

  • MS/Ph.D. in Food Science, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering or similar field. 
  • MS 5+ years/ PhD 2+ years of hands-on experience in product development, research and/or engineering.
  • Direct experience leading scale up projects large and complex in nature.
  • Strong problem solver with extensive use of the scientific method as well as creative problem solving and experimental design.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Self-starter that is naturally curious and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience leading technical teams
  • Highly organized and high attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated individual with strong oral and written communication skills
