This role will help bring Exponent’s high-impact work to life across a variety of print and digital materials, including thought leadership, industry news, case studies, social media posts/campaigns, and presentation and pitch decks.</p><h2>You will be responsible for</h2><ul> <li>Producing copy that shines across multiple types of deliverables — especially long-form articles that showcase Exponent’s innovative solutions and value proposition to clients. This is a role for an experienced, sophisticated, efficient writer who is ready to be inspired and challenged by a near-endless buffet of topics and assignment types. When we say Never Boring, we mean it.</li> <li>Conducting interviews. You know how to research topics and prepare the right questions to help our consultants articulate their technical capabilities — but you’re equally comfortable jumping into new conversations cold. You’ll help us bring our most innovative, forward-thinking services to life, tying together the details of engineering and scientific excellence with big-picture impact in the real world. </li> <li>Synthesizing technical content. You’re comfortable diving into technical scientific topics and keen to distill their importance and relevance across audiences and formats, without compromising integrity or accuracy.</li> <li>Shepherding content through highly matrixed approvals, including resolving feedback efficiently and bringing your experience and stakeholder management skills to the table to suggest creative solutions and overcome roadblocks, as needed.</li> <li>Developing knowledge of Exponent’s business continuously, connecting the dots between strategic messaging and evolving priorities, and bringing those nuances to bear on our content in real time.</li> <li>Creating client-ready pitch materials, ranging from qualifications packages to presentation decks.</li> <li>Supporting broader marketing operations as needed, including copyediting and proofreading of other copywriters’ work to keep our pipeline running smoothly.</li> <li>Contributing to interdepartmental process documentation and optimization inside our fast-evolving department.</li></ul><h2>You will have the following skills and qualifications</h2><ul> <li>10+ years of professional writing experience</li> <li>The ability to juggle multiple assignments fluidly and efficiently</li> <li>A portfolio of meaningful writing samples that MUST include long-form articles and B2B experience </li> <li>A bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field of study</li> <li>A knack for distilling complex technical capabilities into content that resonates with our target audiences at the right level – our stakeholders are experts in their own right</li> <li>Top-notch interviewing skills and the ability to quickly spot which topics are ripe for thought leadership, case studies, white papers, are well-suited to graphics, etc.</li> <li>A strong sense of ownership and accountability – you thrive on connecting the dots, hunting down answers, and keeping projects moving with some degree of autonomy</li> <li>An agile, growth mindset – our team is evolving, which requires team members who are ready to test new ideas, adapt to changing needs, and roll up their sleeves and get the job done when shifting priorities and deadlines demand it</li> <li>Excellent communication skills – both verbally and written, as needed to communicate and chase down actions with our internal clients with</li> <li>Working knowledge of AP style highly preferred</li> <li>Strong familiarity with PowerPoint and best practices in presentation and slide development</li> <li>Basic SEO experience and knowledge of optimization tools such as SEM Rush a plus</li> <li>This is an Oakland, CA based position.
