Job Description

The Advanced Hardware Engineering team is looking for an experienced Documentation Engineer to lead our department in building clear and concise information systems. In this role you will define and champion documentation standards and work with various teams on adoption and migration strategies. You will work closely with engineering and program management teams to ensure quality, discoverability, and accuracy of documentation. 

Responsibilities

  • Establish frameworks, templates and best practices for internal documentation 
  • Audit documentation systems (confluence, jira, polarion, google drive) and hold engineering teams accountable for high quality information
  • Archive and delete content that is irrelevant or out of date
  • Write, edit, maintain, and improve content including, but not limited to technical system overviews, internal services, user guides, knowledge base articles, tutorials
  • Collaborate closely with engineering leads on documentation-oriented process improvements, documentation discoverability, and long-term knowledge management
  • Guide, motivate, and train engineering teams to adhere to documentation process improvements and maintenance

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of work experience in a technical field or documentation management
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field, journalism, or business
  • Fluency in English demonstrating a high level of written communication, listening and interviewing skills
  • Familiarity with hardware development lifecycles
  • Proficiency with wiki software (preferably Confluence)

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with docs-as-code approaches to technical content
  • Proficiency with issue tracking software (e.g. Jira, Asana, Smartsheet) and/or requirements management software (e.g. Polarion, DOORS, Jama)
  • Experience with the product lifecycle management documentation (PLM) tools for product documentation and revision control
