CATF has offices in Boston, Washington D.C., and Brussels, with staff working virtually around the world.ROLEThe Europe Associate to the Carbon Capture Program will report to the Europe Policy Manager, working closely with the broader Carbon Capture and European Advocacy teams, as well as other CATF program teams and functions on an as-needed basis. The Associate shall also engage with external stakeholders and partner organizations, as required, supporting the execution of strategies in support of CATF’s Carbon Capture Program goals and objectives in the region.Key Functions and Responsibilities:Policy and regulatory engagement<ul> <li>Follow policy developments in Europe relevant to the Carbon Capture Program in the EU and in key Member States (e.g., Poland and Germany)</li> <li>Contribute to the development of policy briefs, fact sheets, and reports to inform and socialise CATF’s positions with key policy stakeholders</li></ul>Research and analysis<ul> <li>Develop and maintain tracking tools (e.g. the Carbon Capture Project Tracker Map and NZIA tracker) for monitoring progress across initiatives</li> <li>Help improve and refine existing resources, such as our cost mapping tool and direct air capture lifecycle analysis tool, to inform strategy</li> <li>Provide data-driven insights to support decision-making</li> <li>Use outputs from existing tools to produce briefs and/or insight papers</li></ul>Strategy and program management<ul> <li>Collaborate with the global Carbon Capture Program and EU Advocacy team to develop and refine the overall European carbon capture strategy</li> <li>Coordinate a variety of projects and initiatives across regions (e.g. initiatives in Central and Eastern Europe and Germany)</li> <li>Organize internal and external meetings, workshops, and events</li></ul>Stakeholder engagement<ul> <li>Manage relationships with policymakers, industry stakeholders, and NGOs on behalf of CATF</li> <li>Facilitate consultations and engagements on both national and European levels</li> <li>Support the creation and dissemination of key communications and briefing documents</li></ul>Skills/Qualifications:<ul> <li>Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., public policy, environmental studies, economics, political science, engineering)</li> <li>Demonstrated knowledge of carbon capture and storage (CCS) and/or carbon dioxide removals (CDR); prior experience in CCS policy, research, or project development is a strong asset</li> <li>Familiarity with European climate and energy policy and a demonstrated understanding of the EU legislative process</li> <li>Experience conducting climate or energy policy analysis; policy implementation or advocacy experience is an advantage</li> <li>Proven ability to manage projects independently and meet internal/external deadlines; experience with coordinating multi-stakeholder processes is desirable</li> <li>Excellent writing and communication skills, with experience drafting policy briefs, reports, and stakeholder materials</li> <li>Strong interpersonal skills and diplomatic judgment; comfortable engaging with a range of stakeholders, including policymakers, NGOs, and industry</li> <li>Proficiency in English; additional European languages are a plus</li> <li>Technical experience with data analysis, modeling, or financial tools (e.g., cost mapping, LCA) is a plus</li> <li>Based in a European time zone (GMT or CET preferred) or able to work aligned with European business hours</li> <li>Passion for CATF's mission</li></ul>Compensation and Location: This is a full-time, remote position, flexible within Europe. This is a fixed-term contract employee position. Eligibility for this position requires existing authorization to work in your country of residence.
