Zoox is on an ambitious journey to develop a full-stack autonomous mobility solution for cities. Big data analysis and mass simulation are critical to proving the safety of our system. A simulation environment enables the identification and study of potential safety issues before they manifest themselves in the real world. The effectiveness of the safety measures can also be verified and validated without putting public road users at risk.
Our team builds tools and pipelines to quantitatively measure the performance of our driving software, extract relevant safety events from driving logs, and explore interesting scenarios in simulation. This highly visible work is critical to accelerating the development of AI driving software and building the safety case for autonomy on public roads.
We are looking for a Release Manager to mature our development processes, manage updates to the simulation pipeline, and shepherd evaluations of driving software through the simulation framework. The ideal candidate will leverage their experience to bring stability to our production tooling and continuously improve our release processes.

Responsibilities

  • Perform the mass simulation pipeline release process on a regular cadence
  • Shepherd the execution of scenario generation, mass simulation, and analysis jobs that support new driving software releases
  • Track results of all required tests, analyze release blockers, and drive successful resolution
  • Continually evaluate & improve the release effort by improving processes, removing inefficiencies, and automating manual steps
  • Create metrics and dashboards to facilitate a data-driven approach to process improvement
  • Collaborate with engineers to increase test coverage for each release and ensure readiness for driving software release validation

What You Bring to the Role

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering or quality assurance for large, complex products

  • Multiple years of experience with CI/CD, including build and deploy tools such as Jenkins, Bamboo and GitHub Enterprise
  • Proficiency with Python, Bash, or other scripting languages
  • Experience in defining release readiness criteria, ensuring all changes meet criteria prior to deployment

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with Bazel or similar build systems
  • Experience with monitoring and visualization tools such as Kibana and Grafana
  • Experience with Docker and container orchestration tools such as Kubernetes or EKS
  • Experience working on large process improvement and/or automation projects and programs
