Job Description

As our Senior Technical Program Manager in the Prototyping team you will work with the Director of Prototyping and the leadership team to develop department roadmaps, project schedules, identify milestones, flag risks, estimate budgets, track costs, and clearly communicate ongoing prototyping progress. You will be responsible for translating the team’s direction, plans, budgets, and developmental milestones into clear communications that the team can use as guidance. You will lead a small team of dedicated prototyping program managers that support all aspects of hardware prototyping activities at Zoox.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Director of Prototyping to translate the top-down corporate strategy and milestones into detailed concepts, roadmaps, timelines, and deliverables
  • Develop and maintain the prototyping budget, including working with Finance on a regular basis to provide forecast vs actual justifications.
  • Establish standard reports to provide concise and effective communications to key stakeholders on program status, issues/risks, and accomplishments
  • Ensure problems are transparent and risks are identified and proactively ensure that risk-mitigating actions are ongoing within the teams
  • Set the agenda for key decisions to be made at each meeting to eliminate bottlenecks and retire risks
  • Support key decisions working cross-functionally across engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and finance to reach the right conclusions
  • Provide leadership to the prototype program management team with support developing program milestones, risk identification, and burndown, resource management, as well as providing professional development guidance.

Qualifications

  • BS or MS degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of experience in manufacturing operations, engineering, program management
  • Experience with prototyping and early-stage product development, including prototyping manufacturing techniques (CNC machining, fabrication, additive manufacturing)
  • Strong track record in managing complex cross-functional projects or programs
  • Track record of process and organizational development activities

Bonus Qualifications

  • PMP Certification
  • Prior experience working in a startup environment
  • Prior experience working in the automotive industry
