Job Description

Commonwealth Fusion Systems (CFS) has the fastest, lowest cost path to commercial fusion energy.
CFS is collaborating with MIT to leverage decades of research combined with new groundbreaking high-temperature superconducting (HTS) magnet technology. HTS magnets will enable compact fusion power plants that can be constructed faster and at lower cost. The mission is to deploy fusion power plants to meet global decarbonization goals as fast as possible. CFS has assembled a team of leaders in tough tech, fusion science, and manufacturing with a track record of rapid execution. Supported by the world’s leading investors, CFS is uniquely positioned to deliver limitless, clean, fusion power to combat climate change. To execute this plan, we are looking to add talented people to the team who are mission-driven and treat people well, improve our team by adding diverse perspectives and new ways of solving problems, have demonstrated exceptional results through a range of different pursuits, and have skill sets and experience that relate to this role.
The IT Project Manager (PM) plans, implements, coordinates and oversees IT projects at CFS. This may include utilizing selected staff from various internal departments, as well as external resources. The Project Manager works in the IT department reporting to the Head of IT and work accordingly to the guidelines established by the Project Management Office which reports to the CFO.

This team member will:

  • Liaising with stakeholders such as project personnel, vendors, and end-users regarding project requirements
  • Outlining, defining, and initiating the project
  • Maintaining a good working knowledge of assigned component projects
  • Monitoring project progress and implementing changes where necessary
  • Monitoring expenditures in accordance with the budget
  • Ensuring compliance with objectives, organizational policies, procedures, and standards
  • Compiling project reports and informing management regarding problems
  • Ensuring project complies with best practices, SOPs, PMO policies, and other policies
  • Implementing defied document control policies and documentation templates

The ideal candidate will have most, if not all, of these requirements:

  • Bachelor degree in Information Technology or Business Administration or equivalent experience
  • Specific Project Management certification is required
  • 3+ years of experience in a project management role
  • Thorough understanding of Agile project management fundamentals
  • Understanding of software development life cycle
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong people skills
  • Strong communication/interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills
  • Excellent documentation skills
  • Capable and eager to work under minimal direction in fast-paced energetic environment, managing multiple projects and priorities at once

Additional experience and/or qualifications:

  • 3+ years of prior experience in business analysis or a related field
  • Experience in a high profile engineering or manufacturing fast paced environment
  • Ability to perform activities such as typing, standing, sitting for extended periods of time
  • Willingness to occasionally travel
