Job Description

Commonwealth Fusion Systems (CFS) has the fastest, lowest cost path to commercial fusion energy.
CFS is collaborating with MIT to leverage decades of research combined with new groundbreaking high-temperature superconducting (HTS) magnet technology. HTS magnets will enable compact fusion power plants that can be constructed faster and at lower cost. The mission is to deploy fusion power plants to meet global decarbonization goals as fast as possible. CFS has assembled a team of leaders in tough tech, fusion science, and manufacturing with a track record of rapid execution. Supported by the world’s leading investors, CFS is uniquely positioned to deliver limitless, clean, fusion power to combat climate change. To execute this plan, we are looking to add talented people to the team who are mission-driven and treat people well, improve our team by adding diverse perspectives and new ways of solving problems, have demonstrated exceptional results through a range of different pursuits, and have skill sets and experience that relate to this role.
A new class of high-field superconducting magnets will enable the SPARC tokamak to demonstrate net energy from fusion for the first time. To execute this plan, we are now looking to add an Integration lead to our growing team in Milpitas, CA.
The CFS Integration lead will report to the Head of Superconductor Engineering and will oversee the integration and troubleshooting of vacuum, sw, electronics, and machine elements. The integration lead will construct, track, communicate, and update project integration plan with attention to critical path.
Due to its complexity, the machine will be design in multiple phases. Thus, the job responsibilities will alternate between engineering and integration centric, depends on the phase of development.

  • Collaborate with engineers/scientists to ensure all necessary functions and interfaces are included in the design and implemented according to requirements
  • Ability to design and realize mechanical parts and understands a complex tool mechanism.
  • Experience with design for manufacturability and reliability.
  • Ability to interface with vendors, address manufacturing issues and provide waivers.
  • Assist in incoming inspection by comparing the received part with its design spec/drawing.
  • Ensure the design is completed in compliance with the Code of Record and established requirements
  • Knowledge of basic systems engineering processes of complete system development lifecycle
  • Coordinate development, integration and troubleshooting across multiple stakeholders.

This team member as an Integration Lead will:

  • Coordinate the integration, testing, installation, and commissioning of large systems according to the project schedule.
  • Responsible to orchestrate system, and test fixture, integration on the floor, driving technicians, rigor and be hands on involve in the assembly and integration process.
  • Ensure that all integration activities remain on the path to meet tool schedule and
