You will be responsible for the fabrication and welding of JLG and Jerr-Dan products in prototype build.  As part of the fabrication team in R&amp;D, you will be working to perform fixture setups, part fabrication, weldment verification &amp; measurement, final weld and all other aspects to the fabrication process.PRIMARY ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  These duties are not meant to be all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned.<ul><li>Burn &amp; bend complex/customized parts and weldments with foresight to avoid any technical issues</li><li>Responsible for determining the appropriate equipment and methods required to burn and bend complex parts.</li><li>Responsible for maintaining the equipment and tools required to perform the job in your area.</li><li>Work closely with Lead Technician to maintain appropriate stock of laser / torch parts, brake press dies and anything else pertinent to perform the job at hand.</li><li>Ability to use a computer to program, nest and supply correct G code to the burn tables for part cutting.</li><li>Maintain burn / brake equipment required for machining activities</li><li>Assemble and/or disassemble complex projects and mechanical structures through referencing drawings and work instructions with minimal input.</li><li>Ability to work with Engineering team when fabricating parts</li><li>Ability to communicate via email, phone, in person and skype conversations</li><li>Develop and mentor fellow fabrication specialists to follow best practices and standards.</li></ul>SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:<ul><li>Identify and implement continuous improvement projects.</li><li>Communicate and work cross functionally to resolve problems.</li><li>Understand and execute directions and instructions.</li><li>Follow through on instructions/directions and provide constructive feedback to all levels of the organization</li><li>Plan and schedule daily activities to complete assignments in their order of priority to make effective use of time and ensure projects are being completed within identified timeline</li><li>Responsible for maintaining a safe work environment, adhering to all safety procedures during all aspects of job performance which includes regular exposure to personal and physical hazards</li><li>Operate heavy equipment, machinery or drive vehicles for the purpose of R&amp;D development</li></ul>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:   <ul><li>Associate’s Degree with five (5) years of experience in engineering or equivalent*</li><li>Certified Welder (CW) or ability to obtain certification within 30 days.</li><li>Foresight to address potential technical issues with fabrication and bending</li><li>Knowledge of fabrication and bending terms and definitions.</li><li>Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedures, operating and maintenance instructions, engineering drawings and 3D CAD models</li><li>Ability to adapt to a fast pace and fluid environment</li><li>Attention to detail and quality</li><li>Ability to manage workload and understand deliverables and project timing</li><li>Verbal and written communication skills</li><li>Ability to utilize Microsoft word, excel and PowerPoint</li><li>Ability to travel 5%</li></ul>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: <ul><li>Associate’s Degree with seven (7) years of experience in engineering or equivalent*</li><li>A valid Forklift, Telehandler and AWP operator license or the ability to get certified within 6 months.</li><li>Experience with coaching and mentoring other Machinists.</li></ul>*Note: equivalent equates approximately four (4) years of on the job experience to one (1) year of formal education.Pay Range:$56,600.00 - $88,400.00The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations.
