Job Description

Who we are looking for:
We are looking for a Sr. Manager or Director of Finance (precise title commensurate with experience) to support our growing insurance business across all product lines and geographies. In this role, you will be responsible for the company’s financial planning processes, key financial and KPI reporting, Board reporting, and other strategic corporate initiatives. You will collaborate with executive leaders to provide analytical rigor and evaluate strategic initiatives.
The role is a blend of financial operations and financial strategy. The Director will own FP&A and forecasting, corporate finance functions (monthly close, audit, tax) and operating across geographies. Additionally, you will work with our controller and bookkeeper to ensure operational efficiency and effectiveness as we scale new businesses.

What you can look forward to:

  • Working closely with industry experts to build new products in a fast-growing renewable energy insurtech company.
  • Owning the FP&A function and working with business line managers on top-line and expense forecasting, as well as insurance loss ratio forecasting.
  • Ensuring smooth financial operations: closing the books monthly, annual budgeting, managing tax firms and third party auditors.
  • Scaling new businesses and setting in place operational requirements for invoicing and collections.
  • Establishing necessary reporting and financial controls, and strategic planning for key financial inflection points.
  • Being a key partner in opening offices in new geographies and the financial strategy to support a global business.
  • An equity stake in the company, via incentive stock options.
  • A wide variety of medical, dental, and vision plans. 401(k), HSA, FSA and corporate discounts.

What you likely need to do the job well:

  • Corporate finance experience: Comfortable with GAAP, financial statements, and scaling operations. Very adept at building and managing corporate finance models in Excel. Experience with international finance and Netsuite a plus.
  • Critical thinker: You can quickly synthesize large volumes of (often conflicting) information, and develop a thesis. You can clearly articulate your proposal with supporting data.
  • Operational Capability: We are a startup and need people who are ready to get their hands dirty and are biased towards action.
  • Self-starter: You can independently lead and manage projects. You know when to ask for help, but also trust your analytical frameworks.
  • A thinker and a doer: You can hold multiple stakeholders’ perspectives in your head, devise a solution, and then rapidly build consensus around that solution.
  • Customer service focus: You view and approach KWH partners with a relationship mindset being responsive and working together to solve problems.
