Implements and oversee continual improvement of system and product designs while using standard engineering principles. Implements safety procedures, troubleshoots and improves existing processes for manufacturing using new technological theories, concepts and techniques. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected determine methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. May supervise the activities of others.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:<ul><li>Compile Design Basis or Requirements documentation</li><li>Develop material and energy balances for chemical processes.</li><li>Prepare Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Utility Flow Diagrams (UFDs) and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&amp;IDs).</li><li>Perform equipment sizing calculations.</li><li>Perform line sizing and pressure drop calculations by hand &amp;/or utilizing engineering incompressible and compressible fluid dynamic simulation software such as AFT Fathom and AFT Arrow</li><li>Develop datasheets and specifications as needed.</li><li>Conduct and/or support What-If analysis, HAZOP, PHA reviews &amp; FMECA.</li><li>Perform calculations for sizing pressure relief devices such as relief valves and rupture discs per ASME and API 520 and control valves per ISA 75.01.01</li><li>Develop control concepts and coordinate with instrumentation &amp; controls engineers.</li><li>Prepare Process Control Narratives (PCNs)</li><li>Prepare process engineering deliverables list and manhour requirements.</li><li>Train &amp; mentor entry level and junior engineers in process design.</li><li>Coordinate with other engineering disciplines in developing project deliverables.</li><li>Support proposal development activities.</li><li>Support efforts to minimize rework and improve productivity.</li></ul>Supervisory ResponsibilitiesThis job has no supervisory responsibilities but may provide technical leadership to lower-level Engineers including carrying out lead responsibilities in accordance with applicable regulations and laws and the organization’s policies and procedures.  This includes, but is not limited to training employees, planning, assigning, directing work and resolving technically related work problems.QualificationsThe requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
