Talen Energy is looking to connect with Power and Energy Market Traders in interest of growing our Commercial Energy Trading team!This individual is responsible for P&amp;L capture and will work with the Commercial Team to manage and optimize a portfolio of Fixed price and Zonal exposures across the grid. In this role, you’ll do more than contribute you’ll drive meaningful change by:<ul><li>Work with team to monetize overall portfolio of power, fuel, congestion, emissions, and related exposures</li><li>Deliver individual speculative and aggregate portfolio optimization value while operating within Talen risk, credit, and regulatory parameters.</li><li>Work collaboratively with functional groups including Fundamentals, Accounting, Operations, Credit, and Risk.</li><li>Create and execute strategies to hedge and manage financial trading position around physical assets.</li><li>Work with Trading and Operations groups to understand and optimize physical basis conditions within geographically diverse portfolio.  </li><li>Options Trading experience with the ability to understand, trade, and manage options.</li></ul>What You Have<ul><li>3+ years of energy market experience profitably trading power, gas, and other related products</li><li>Advanced degree in Economics, Business, Finance, Engineering, or Mathematics preferred</li><li>Thorough understanding of PJM power and gas infrastructure</li><li>Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills</li><li>Knowledge of fundamental simulation forecasting tools and the manner which these can be used to identify opportunities</li><li>VBA, Python, and/or other coding language knowledge</li></ul>Preferred Qualifications<ul><li>Master’s degree or MBA</li><li>Powerflow modeling</li><li>LMP / FTR markets</li><li>Environmental products</li><li>Market data analysis platforms</li></ul>Why Talen Energy?Power the FutureTalen Energy is one of the largest competitive energy and power generation companies in North America.
