The company is building a better battery that enables electric vehicles to charge faster, go further, last longer, stay safer and cost less than current electric or gas-powered vehicles.
We're growing and are looking to add an EHS Engineer to our team.
Responsibilities:
Support the maintenance of environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs to ensure compliance, injury prevention, and risk mitigation.Participate in regular area inspections, document corrective actions, and track to closure.Coordinate and/or deliver EHS training.Utilize and manage an online learning management system.Coordinate vendors to perform onsite tasks.Record environmental parameters. Monitor hazardous waste handling and storage. Take effective steps to ensure that all required records are prepared and maintained.Conduct and document regular inspections of safety equipment. Restock safety supplies as needed.May participate in regulatory inspections or assist in investigation and preparation of reports on injuries.Provide detailed facility tours for new employees.Support development and completion of environmental/sustainability metrics.Actively participate in Emergency Response Team and Safety Committee activities.In support of 5S initiatives, work with employees to ensure a clean, safe, and healthy workplaceComplete all assigned and required training satisfactorily and on time.
Minimum Requirements:
Undergraduate degree in chemistry, engineering, or related fields.Excellent written and verbal communication and collaboration skills with all levels of personnel.Organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to work under general supervision.Ability to deal with confidential information in a professional manner.Must demonstrate personal integrity and high ethical standards.Must be able to work in a fast-changing environment with Facilities, Hardware, and R&D leaders, and staffing at all levels.Approach complex problems by actively seeking information and new ideas from a variety of sources, consistently looking for novel ways to solve problems, and mastering unfamiliar information, tasks, and situations quickly and effectively.
Highly Desirable:
2 years of work experience in the EHS field.MS in chemistry or engineering fields.Experience working within a battery or automotive operations and/or manufacturing teams.Strong data management and analysis skills. Strong people skills.
Physical Requirements:
May work with airtight isolation chambers and/or wear neoprene or vinyl gloves for 15-30% of the time. May frequently reach above shoulder heights and below the waist. May be required to use hand or power tools. Ability to stoop, kneel, crawl, lift up to 30 pounds, push and extend arms.
