In this role, you will:Build and lead a high preforming polymer engineering team in developing a portfolio of new adhesives and bonding processes for battery assembly applications.Drive on-site technical direction and polymer/adhesive development for cell seal technologyDevelop team to complete prototyping and optimizing the product performance for process reliability, performance of the manufacturing equipment and material cost.Partner with multi-functional internal teams, including design and product development engineers, mechanical engineers, operations, sales, commercial leadership, and other internal capability teamsCoordinate with outside technology suppliers and partners to identify, develop, and implement emerging materials, processing technologies, and equipment that will enable cell sealing technologiesEstablish strategic priorities and communicate changes to the team as neededProvide innovative solutions by researching and implementing new technologies to improve operational efficiencyLead team in sample preparation and test methods for structural materials and componentsThe ideal candidate will have technical expertise in polymers and adhesives, product development, product integration, manufacturing, and equipment development to optimally deliver high quality and effective products while optimizing total delivered cost
Requirements:Typically requires a bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of 12 years of experience or a master’s degree and 10 years of experience or a Ph.D. and a minimum of 8 years;Evaluated primarily on technical contributions, program coordination/management, technical leadership and project performance.5+ years proven track record with high-capacity manufacturingRelevant dynamic leadership experience with emphasis on polymer and process development with respect to adhesives. Confirmed experience in lithium-ion batteries preferredExperience working in development programs with corroborated ability to meet timelinesKnowledge of emerging materials and processing technologies for adhesivesBalance multiple projects on a fast-paced schedule, while dealing with some vagueness in a high output environmentProvide a high level of service by having a collaboration focus on teamwork while growing your internal networkConfirmed understanding of financial management including financial tracking, budgeting, and forecasting
