Join our team.What you’ll doAs a Motor Controls Engineer, Firmware and Testing, you will support the development of advanced motor control system for magnetic and electromechanical products. You will play a pivotal role in accelerating adoption of Iron Nitride-based magnets by helping to design motors using Iron Nitride magnets for our customers. You will work on a team who is critical to bringing Niron’s novel product to market. We have a once-in-a-generation new magnetic material. We are building a world-class motor team, and we are looking for its founding members.<ul><li>Firmware Technical Expertise <ul><li>Design, implement, and optimize embedded firmware for electric motor control applications (including permanent magnet motors).</li><li>Develop control algorithms (e.g., FOC, PID) and integrate with hardware platforms (MCUs, DSPs).</li><li>Write clean, maintainable C/C++ code for real-time systems.</li><li>Develop and deliver high-quality documentation of design</li></ul></li></ul><ul><li>Testing and Documentation<ul><li>Design and execute test plans for firmware and motor control systems.</li><li>Use lab equipment (oscilloscopes, power analyzers, dynamometers) to validate performance and troubleshoot issues.</li><li>Create repeatable, sustainable processes which are documented</li></ul></li></ul><ul><li>Cross-functional collaboration<ul><li>Collaborate cross-functionally magnet and motor design teams to ensure alignment between motor-level and material-level performance</li><li>Contribute to architecture discussions and participate in design reviews</li></ul></li></ul>What we’re looking for<ul><li>Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field</li><li>Expertise with Electromagnetic Finite Element Analysis</li><li>Proficiency in C/C++ and real-time embedded systems.</li><li>Strong understanding of motor control theory and power electronics.</li><li>Experience with lab testing and debugging tools.</li><li>Familiarity with version control systems and issue tracking tools.</li><li>Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines</li></ul>Our pay and benefits<ul><li>Salary: $90,000 - $130,000 annually, depending on experience, education, and skills</li><li>Equity position in Niron via stock option grant</li><li>Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance</li><li>Mental healthcare</li><li>401k plan with company match</li><li>Paid vacation, sick time, and holidays</li><li>Experience in a fun, high-performing, manufacturing environment</li></ul>
