Job Description

QuantumScape is on a mission to transform energy storage with solid-state lithium-metal battery technology. The company’s next-generation batteries are designed to enable longer range, faster charging and enhanced safety in electric vehicles to support the transition away from legacy energy sources toward a lower carbon future.

We’re looking for a dedicated Technical Program Manager to join our team. In this role, you will join a team helping QuantumScape oversee construction of engineering and prototype production lines, develop and install manufacturing production equipment, and develop processes to produce our ceramic films and assemble cells. Our ambitions are to produce cells at volumes relevant to the EV industry, so our pilot lines need to demonstrate not only our cell technology, but our ability to cost effectively scale production to GWh levels. This is a complex endeavor requiring close coordination of multiple internal teams and outside vendors including Construction, Facilities, EH&S, Machine Design, Process Development, New Product Introduction, Technology Systems, and Finance teams.
Responsibilities:
A Technical Program Manager will be part of a team within QuantumScape that addresses the following tasks:
Works with Manufacturing Hardware Engineering team and outside vendors to develop and deliver customized film and cell assembly tooling.
Works with IT, Controls team, and outside vendors to implement SCADA and MES for facilities and manufacturing tools.
Assists with planning of film and cell new product introduction testing activities.
Oversees construction and coordinates tool installation for engineering and pilot cell production lines.
Integrates program management activities with SAP finance systems.
Learns and supports the Technology development process and Project Scorecard programs, and act as champions for the program to ensure teams provide clear and concise inputs to keep programs on track.
Plans and directs schedules as well as project budgets.
Monitors projects from inception through delivery and assist on activities needed to move the needle on key gaps.
Prepares project reports and communicate status updates to executive staff.
Communication/Collaboration:
Ability to flex working/communication style, and adapt by leader/team, to enhance collaboration.
Coordinate and facilitate alignment meetings by ensuring meetings are conducted on a defined cadence and with a set agenda, collaborate with leaders to build presentations, setup and facilitate meetings, and publish actions and ensure timely closure.
Proactively seek ideas from others at all levels of the organization and provide tactful feedback on complex tasks, concepts, and theories to enable key strategic objectives.
Provide a high level of service with strong customer focus and build effective relationships with supported teams and peers.
Ability to quickly adapt to changing requirements and timelines.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree.
1+ year of experience as a program manager in hardware development, manufacturing, or construction industries.
Experience and exposure to Manufacturing equipment used in the Semi-conductor, ceramic, or battery manufacturing industries with at least 1 year of high-volume manufacturing experience.
Proficiency with Primavera P6 program management software or equivalent with 2+ years experience conducting critical path analyses and scheduling program tasks with a variety of dependencies.
Program Management Professional (PMP) Certification or equivalent or Agile Program Management experience a plus.
Experience working with an international community, especially with overseas customers, suppliers, and researchers who are non-native English speakers.
