We’re hiring a Senior Marketing Manager to work alongside our friendly team customer success team, software developers, product and project managers, designers and more that are at the forefront of transforming the energy sector. 

Who we are looking for 

After closing our Series A, we’re looking for a mission-driven and experienced Senior Marketing Manager who can help drive our marketing and communications outreach, positioning Piclo as a global market leader. You will be responsible for coordinating and delivering on Piclo’s marketing content and strategy across all channels for our key target clients (system operators), users (flexibility providers) and wider audience (energy and technology sector). The Senior Marketing Manager will report directly to the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO).

The role would represent a great opportunity for those looking to take full accountability for the marketing strategy, building out channels, reporting and developing a best practice inbound / outbound marketing engine. Over the coming 18 months you will be expected to drive new clients, engage and grow our user-base and develop new partners, events, content and opportunities which support the growth of our DSO base in the UK and internationally and nurture our ecosystem of flex providers. 

About the role 

As Senior Marketing Manager, you will be leading Piclo’s marketing and communications during this critical stage of growth. You will be working closely with the commercial team to spearhead our marketing efforts and public-facing communications to grow the brand in the UK and internationally. Responsibilities will include the following: 

Marketing and communications strategy 

You will work closely with the CCO and wider sales and commercial team to develop and lead on the implementation of a marketing strategy for Piclo. This includes activities such as:

  • Defining the  goals and objectives of Piclo’s marketing efforts to achieve short-, mid- and long-term business ambitions
  • Developing the inbound / outbound marketing strategy and creating plans, campaigns and lead generation programmes to enable it
  • Shaping Piclo’s brand and identity internally and in the market, clarifying our unique value proposition and key differentiation from our competitors
  • Developing  innovative digital media marketing strategies including search engine optimisation, video and social media and email marketing campaigns

Content development 

You will drive the creation of new, high-quality content underpinned by deep knowledge of the energy markets.  You will work with our comms associate to conduct activities such as: 

  • Creating rich narratives that articulate poignant points-of-view about the energy industry, flexibility markets, and Piclo’s role in accelerating the energy transition
  • Developing compelling content to drive demand via email, videos, awards,  website, media outreach and other communications channels.
  • Coordinating with the wider sales, commercial and design teams on the development, production and maintenance of sales collateral that supports our value proposition

Managing outreach

You will be responsible managing the outreach activities of Piclo, such as:

  • Executing targeted, multi-channel marketing campaigns and tactics that support marketing objectives
  • Organising company events including webinars, trade shows, and other marketing communication programs
  • Executing a marketing automation strategy (including the configuration of our CRM) to support inbound / outbound communication and increase activity from communities
  • Implementing quantitative and qualitative measures to evaluate the effectiveness of our marketing approach and adjust tactics accordingly 

About you

Our ideal candidate meets many (but not necessarily all) of the below criteria:

  • 8+ years marketing and comms experience, at least 5 of which are in the energy sector or flexibility markets; experience successfully leading SaaS marketing initiatives 
  • Ability to drive Piclo’s marketing strategy for sales and growth and assist the development of our user engagement of our marketplace 
  • Experience of implementing and coordinating B2B marketing automation, campaigns and analytics through tools such as a CRM (e.g. Hubspot). 
  • Experience of managing cross channel marketing plans with a focus on PR and Events
  • Ability to motivate and manage high performing teams to drive concrete outcomes
  • Self-driven and highly motivated with the ability to progress multiple targets or objectives even amidst ambiguity
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt quickly to change, prioritise and juggle fast-paced environment
  • Hands on approach to development and implementation of high quality content
  • Excellent communicator who can build relationships with teammates from different disciplines, making sure that everyone is clear about what’s required of them. 
  • Fluent in English, even if it’s not your first language.

Also desirable:

  • Data-driven and results focused. You love dealing with both quantitative and qualitative data 
  • Demonstrated success with start-ups, scale-ups or high-growth companies
  • Passionate about enabling the  Energy Transition and motivated by Piclo’s mission to make our energy system smart, flexible and clean. 
  • Naturally empathic and always mindful of the humans who you interact with

  • £52-62k, with standard share options
  • 25 days holiday (plus Bank Holidays)
  • 35 hour week - with flexible working hours (within core business hours)
