Job Description

Are you ready to rise to the challenge of climate change with the team that will deliver? Form Energy is a U.S. technology and manufacturing company that is developing and commercializing pioneering energy storage technologies to enable the electric grid to run on 100% renewable energy, every day of the year.
Supported by leading investors such as Breakthrough Energy Ventures, ArcelorMittal, TPG Rise, MIT’s The Engine, and others, we share a common belief that low-cost, multi-day energy storage is the key to enable tomorrow’s zero carbon electric grid. Driven by our core values of humanity, excellence, and creativity, we are deeply motivated and inspired to create a better world. We need talented, hardworking individuals who share our goal of tackling the challenge of climate change. Do you want to work with us today to build a better tomorrow?
Role DescriptionWe are looking for an electrical engineer who can play a key role in the development of our battery module electronics and control systems. This individual will be part of a rapidly growing team responsible for PCBA design, component selection, functional safety, and design validation testing. Ideally, the electrical engineer should have exposure to a broad range of technical challenges and methods in the context of product development, including high voltage electronics design, EMC compliance, and root cause failure analysis. Cross-team collaboration throughout the product development organization is a critical part of this role, so systems-level thinking and multidisciplinary engineering problem solving are key traits of a successful candidate.

What You'll Do:

  • Design PCBAs and busbars for high voltage DC power flow
  • Collaborate with software and hardware engineers to develop a battery management system (BMS) capable of coordinating functionality and safety responses throughout the system
  • Develop the battery module contactor and fusing strategies then implement in lab-scale prototypes
  • Incorporate EMC regulatory requirements into design approaches
  • Develop and support the execution of test plans to validate electronics and control systems in lab and field environments
  • Engage with battery module and system design engineers to build Form’s first generation multi-day storage product
  • Support the new product introduction and manufacturing scale-up activities, including quality inspection requirement, root cause failure analysis, and test equipment development

What You'll Bring:

  • BSc or greater in electronics or electrical engineering
  • 2+ years experience in product development - experience in energy storage or renewable energy is a plus
  • Background in electronics development, fabrication, and assembly processes
  • Experience using and debugging industrial controls and serial communication protocols
  • Experience with EMC/EMI sensitive design and analysis
  • Familiarity with embedded system, high voltage electronics, and MOSFET switching circuit designs
  • Good analytical problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
