Job Description

Who you are

As an IT Technician on the Data Systems team you will be providing first line desktop computer, printer, networking, and software support for a diverse group engineers, technicians, and scientists. You are someone who enjoys working with people who have a wide range of computer skills and support needs. You will have an opportunity to work on a variety of challenging technical issues on any given day, often balancing and prioritizing multiple support requests.

Responsibilities and duties
  • Solve and repair Mac and Windows PC hardware and software issues on client computers and shared lab computers
  • Diagnose and correct basic network issues, including troubleshooting wireless access points
  • Setup, configure and troubleshoot AV hardware and software, including, video conferencing phones and cameras
  • Perform tests, evaluations, and installations of new software and hardware
  • Lead Microsoft Active Directory and Google G Suite user accounts and groups
  • Run Sila's Brivo key card system. Troubleshoot key card and card reader issues
  • Handle IT documentation and client how-to documents
  • IT Projects as assigned by Data Systems Leadership
Knowledge and skill requirements
  • Minimum of 2 to 3 years of demonstrated ability in an IT support position such as phone support, onsite client support, or AV/IT setup and installation.
  • AA degree or equivalent with a focus in IT client support, computer security and networking protocols
  • Hands on experience troubleshooting Macintosh and Windows hardware and operating systems and performing hardware upgrades
  • An understanding of basic networking concepts (e.g. DHCP, DNS, LDAP) and experience working with enterprise wireless networks
  • A demonstrable understanding of G Suite / Workplace, Active Directory, Microsoft Office and task management software
  • Preferred background in data cabling installation, electronic door security systems, alarm/security system management

  • Able to stand for extended periods of time
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to setup and climb ladders.
  • Extended periods of typing
