Job Description

EnergyHub empowers utilities and their customers to create a clean, distributed energy future. We accomplish this through innovative software and program management solutions that harness millions of distributed energy resources, enabling utilities to support more renewables and rely less on fossil energy.

Our product user-base is growing rapidly. We have an opportunity to introduce an in-house product design function to help focus us on customer needs, push us beyond our existing design direction, and align with discovery of new products and capabilities. We’re looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can work through ambiguity.

What you’ll do

  • Design digital products that turn millions of electric vehicles, smart thermostats, batteries, and other energy IoT devices into resources that help create a cleaner and more resilient grid.
  • Explore new solutions and technologies by partnering with Product and Engineering to develop and test prototypes directly with customers.
  • Get in at the ground level to help build out a design function at EnergyHub.
  • Foster a collaborative, cross-disciplinary design process.

Who you are

  • You are excited to help build and lead a design culture.
  • You enjoy working across all aspects of design, leading a project from conception (e.g. foundational research, ideation and concepting, testing, and conceptual iterations) through completion (e.g. wireframing, content strategy, detailed interaction and visual design, and execution support).
  • You have experience balancing a thoughtful design process with tight deadlines.
  • You have either experience with accessible design or a commitment to developing baseline skills in accessibility.
  • You have experience working with colleagues and stakeholders across a broad range of disciplines.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional product design experience.
  • A strong portfolio that showcases relevant projects for which you were directly responsible and explains your end-to-end design process. Please share your portfolio with us in this application either by sharing the link or uploading the PDF attachment.
  • Strong consensus-building, persuasion, and presentation skills.
  • Experience with data visualization and an ability to integrate quantitative and qualitative data into your UX work and design decisions.
  • Proven experience running user research, synthesizing findings, and iterating on the basis of learnings.
  • Some leadership experience, whether of work-tracks or as a people manager.

Nice-to-have experience

  • Professional experience with and/or a passion for grid-edge technologies.
