Job Description

QuantumScape is on a mission to transform energy storage with solid-state lithium-metal battery technology. The company’s next-generation batteries are designed to enable longer range, faster charging and enhanced safety in electric vehicles to support the transition away from legacy energy sources toward a lower carbon future.

Quantumscape is a start-up located in San Jose, California working on new energy storage technology to allow electric vehicles to outperform internal combustion cars. Our leap in energy density and charge rate is enabled by different chemistry and cell architecture which also benefits safety. Do you want to be a part of this critical part of the future energy economy? As a member of the Cell Process Improvement team you will work with multi-functional teams -- cell assembly and production processes meet custom hardware design -- to actually put this technology on the road. We do what it takes to make Quantumscape's fundamental technological breakthroughs into a commercial cell.
Responsibilities:
Work with R&D teams to bring the latest innovations to our production process.
Develop new cell assembly processes to hit yield and throughput targets.
Improve existing processes to eliminate known failure modes.
Collect and analyze cell process and electrical data to inform our performance and reliability improvement efforts.
Communicate results with the broader team.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Solid understanding of engineering or science fundamentals.
Experience with process design for manufacturing.
Understanding of various Physical Analysis and Characterization methods and how to interpret results.
Experience querying and analyzing process data in a scripting language.
You like solving puzzles and respond to challenges with solutions.
You learn and adapt quickly.
You have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
You love working closely with a team in a fast-paced and energizing environment.
Minimum Requirements:
M.S. in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field or B.S. and 2+ years of work experience.
Experience conducting hands on experiments in a laboratory setting or on a production line.
Strong data analysis and presentation skills.
