The Role:

You will work alongside a diverse set of experts within the Science, Product, Marketing, and Customer Success Teams working to anticipate and resolve challenges customers may face, and deliver value. You will play a crucial role in ensuring credibility across Cervest's Climate Intelligence capability and digital experiences for our enterprise customers, leading to high levels of customer satisfaction, engagement, and retention. 

Your focus will be on providing scientific support and validation both internally and to our customers as a subject matter expert, helping guide use cases and further understanding of the business impacts of climate risk To provide guidance internally, you will regularly conduct competitors’ and market analyses.

You’ll also provide scientific guidance on EarthScan’s product development to make it appealing, easy to understand and scientifically accurate. 

You will stay abreast of internal scientific and product developments and also ensure that your approach is pragmatic and aligned with stakeholder requirements, including customers’ success best practices and Cervest’s marketing tone. You’ll coordinate with other teams to ensure that your outputs, timelines, and expectations are aligned.

As a Product Support and Customer Facing - Climate Scientist at Cervest, you will:

  • Validate the product, to ensure that outcomes in the front and back end match
  • Diagnose bugs and engage with our product and engineering teams to resolve them as quickly as possible using established processes
  • Support customers by providing scientific guidance and interpretation of the product, in written and verbal forms
  • Be an internal educator - explain, verbally and in written form, how our science and product address customer business needs
  • Provide scientific input and guidance to internal teams, such as Marketing
  • Share results & key focus areas with appropriate internal stakeholders
  • Represent the experience of the customer within Cervest, and the Science Community in particular 
  • Stay abreast of internal scientific and product developments 
  • Conduct and document competitor analysis, with a focus on their scientific approach
  • Have interaction with customers to respond to their scientific queries and to position our products to drive acquisition

 

Required skills and background:

  • Ph.D. in climate science, meteorology, or related discipline.
  • Deep understanding of climate and climate change, climate models’ shortcomings and strengths, including strong physical understanding; as demonstrated by research experience in the field.
  • Strong expertise in writing code in Python
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities, to non-technical audiences, as demonstrated by experience. Such as teaching, public lectures, or other engagements.
  • Collaborative abilities and adaptability to shifting and expanding priorities, and ability to provide guidance on prioritization in such a context.
  • A customer-focused mindset
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Bonus points for:

  • Understanding of enterprise workflows, terminology, concepts, and strategies
  • Experience with customer relationship skills

We are looking for a candidate who is comfortable working in a remote setting and with a diverse team distributed across multiple time zones. This job requires minimum travel for occasional regional or global team retreats only, using more sustainable transport methods (we’ll help with that) so generally within one time zone of the UK.
