Duties and responsibilities  Direct Tax Management <ul><li>Manage corporate income tax compliance, including submissions and payments to SARS.</li><li>Prepare and review tax calculations for annual financial statements and quarterly forecasts.</li><li>Manage deferred tax calculations and reporting.</li><li>Provide tax input into corporate structuring, mergers, acquisitions, and new project SPVs.</li><li>Liaise with external tax advisors and auditors.</li></ul> Indirect Tax (VAT, Customs, Duties) <ul><li>Ensure timely and accurate VAT submissions and compliance with VAT Act requirements.</li><li>Manage customs duties, import/export tax implications, and environmental levies applicable to equipment and components.</li><li>Provide guidance on VAT structuring for projects, particularly for cross-border transactions and EPC contracts.</li><li>Monitor legislative changes and ensure implementation of changes in the business.</li></ul> Tax Risk Management &amp; Compliance <ul><li>Maintain up-to-date tax compliance records and manage SARS queries, audits, and disputes.</li><li>Identify and manage tax risks and opportunities, ensuring alignment with business strategies.</li><li>Ensure transfer pricing documentation and intercompany policies are in place and compliant.</li></ul> Government Incentives &amp; Grants <ul><li>Identify and evaluate government tax incentives, rebates, and grant programmes relevant to renewable energy projects (e.g., Section 12B, Section 12L, DTIC incentives, REIPPPP-related benefits).</li><li>Support the application process for incentive programmes and maintain compliance with reporting requirements.</li><li>Liaise with government departments and advisors to monitor opportunities and legislative developments.</li></ul> Advisory &amp; Strategic Support <ul><li>Support project development teams with tax structuring advice for bids, financial models, and PPAs.</li><li>Advise on tax implications of Power Purchase Agreements, EPC contracts, and O&amp;M agreements.</li><li>Contribute to strategic decisions by evaluating tax impacts on commercial transactions.</li></ul> Required skills and education background <ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Tax, Finance, or related field (required).</li><li>Postgraduate Tax qualification or HDip Tax (advantageous).</li><li>Registered Tax Practitioner with SARS (required).</li><li>Minimum 5–8 years’ experience in a tax-focused role (in-house or professional services).</li><li>Renewable energy, infrastructure, or large capital project experience is advantageous.</li><li>Experience with SARS eFiling, e@syFile, and related systems.</li><li>Strong technical knowledge of South African tax legislation, including VAT, Income Tax, and customs.</li><li>Working knowledge of government incentive programmes, grants, and tax-based rebates.</li><li>High attention to detail and strong analytical skills.</li><li>Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills (internal and external).</li><li>Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities and deadlines.</li></ul> Desirable attributes The ideal candidate would have a passion for the Renewable Energy sector and personality traits would include a high level of diligence, determination, resilience, and agility. Mulilo is an employer of choice and is offering an extremely competitive total remuneration package for this position.
