Responsibilities <ul><li>Provide NFPA code and program expertise. Ensure site meets program compliance with codes, standards, fleet/site procedures and regulations. </li><li>Provides engineering/technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis, and resolution of problems within the program. </li><li>Provides technical and plant support to Fire Protection team members that develop and revise Fire PRAs and NSCA.</li><li>Prepare and support NRC/INPO/NEIL inspections and NOS Audits. </li><li>Monitor the testing and performance of the fire protection plant features (e.g. Penetration Seals and Fire Doors). </li><li>Review engineering changes for accuracy, program impact, and functional testing. </li><li>Develop and/or provide technical support in the development of surveillance testing, fire protection pre-plans, and impairment monitoring and reporting processes. </li><li>Prepare and/or review Fire Protection Engineering calculations</li><li>Prepare or Review a Fire Protection Plant Changes relative to the plant license requirements.  </li><li>Accurately communicate technical issues concisely in oral and written communication. </li><li>Provide field support to maintenance, operations and site services for Fire Protection related issues that cannot be resolved by the site Fire Marshall. </li><li>Review and respond to fleet/industry OE </li><li>Supports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally. </li></ul>Working Conditions <ul><li>Office and plant environment requires walking, light lifting, infrequent climbing and occasional exposure to temperature, noise and radiation </li><li>Highly procedural and process-oriented structure, due to strict regulatory requirements </li><li>Must be able to work some weekends, holidays and overtime as needed </li><li>On-call duty responsibilities will apply </li><li>Ability to perform field walk-downs in an operating plant </li><li>Some travel off the Duke Energy system may be involved </li></ul>Depending upon the desired qualifications of the successful applicant, the hiring manager may elect to fill this position at a higher level within the job hierarchy.Nuclear Engineer III<ul><li>Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program.</li><li>A Master 's degree in engineering will be considered in lieu of a Bachelor of Science in Engineering</li><li>4-6 years of engineering experience</li><li>Minimum of 1 year of nuclear experience</li></ul>Sr Nuclear Engineer<ul><li>Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program.</li><li>A Master's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited school will be considered in lieu of the B.S.
