What You'll Do

  • Provide counsel to management and project teams on matters of law and policy, including regulatory, finance, marketing, advertising, intellectual property, and contract drafting and interpretation
  • Provide assistance as needed with respect to areas of Aspiration’s business, including: Procurement and Contracting / Regulatory and licensing matters and interactions
  • Research, review, interpret, draft and negotiate legal documents such as credit and finance documents, confidentiality agreements, and commercial contracts (residential and small business electric sales agreements, third party vendor contracts), etc.
  • Work regularly with staff across the organization to advise on a wide variety of legal and risk management issues
  • Draft responses to copyright, libel and other claims and assist with litigation matters
  • Analyze contractual requirements, special provisions and terms and conditions to ensure compliance with appropriate laws, regulations, and company policies and procedures

What You'll Bring

  • J.D. degree and a state bar member in good standing with 5+ years of law firm or in-house counsel experience, required
  • Proven experience representing corporations in commercial transactions and general business law
  • Proficient in commercial transactions, including content, copyright and trademark licensing, and how specific contract clauses affect digital products and partnerships
  • Excellent drafting, negotiating and communication skills, and extensive experience with contracts, particularly in the areas of licensing and intellectual property
